Practicing with hole reinforcement dots and leaving lines in the table

The white skid marks are a product of shooting hard repeatedly... like we see on most every table whose cloth has been on the table for some time. They are also the product of shooting the same shot over and over, but this time there is an additional factor of playing with dirty balls. If the...

    Why are professional players broke?

Spot on, imo. :thumbup2: I couldn't live that way... but I also know that others can... at least during their 20s, their 30s and even into their 40s. After that, the prospects of having to work until the day that you die loom large. Either that, or you find a kind and benevolent sugar momma to...

Buying a custom cue - What did you wish you knew?

The biggest problem when buying your first custom cue is knowing what you want. The only real way to know what you want is to have shot with a variety of cues... noting their length, weight, balance point, shaft taper, butt diameter, pin type, grip material (linen, wrapless, leather, etc.)...

Chalk, Chalk, and More Chalk what is all the hype?

How can anyone chalk their tip properly with their cue hand? Chalk should be brushed on... not screwed on. Being right handed, I hold my cue with my left hand and brush the chalk on with my right hand.

    rule question, any game

I can understand why you, as an individual, feel that it is a stupid rule... but I fail to understand how the rule would "discourage a lot of new players".

    rule question, any game

Relative to using your cue to aim a shot, the rules appear to allow this even if the cue is NOT held. Read here... from the same BCAPL General Rules. 1.3 Use of Equipment The BCAPL reserves the right to prohibit any equipment it deems untested or inappropriate, or that has not been evaluated...

    Resources to teach jumping

When using the dart method, you almost throw the jump cue at the cue ball... the grip should be that loose. You almost momentarily lose touch/contact with the cue.

    My dilemma with low deflection

I played with a pre-cat 314 for quite a while and then switched to a 314. It wasn't until I bought a Z2 about 6 years ago that I realized how inconsistent my stroke was. It took some time before I shot well with that shaft. I believe that if you can play well with a Z2 you can play well with...

    how to gain consistent shot?

You're most likely changing your pre-shot routine. It doesn't take much change to allow doubt to enter your mind. Also, remember this... The best players pay attention to detail on every shot. And for the money ball shot, imagine another ball still on the table that you have to play position...
