WTB: USED 9 foot Diamond in Chicago (or in midwest)

FWIW, blue logo Diamonds have not been on the market that long. You may have better luck buying a red label and having Gleb (sorry, Glen.) do the re-cal for you... just a thought rather than limiting your search to just a used blue label.

I consider it unsportsmanlike. It's bogus.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

SP - If I interpret your post to Dr. Dave correctly, I believe that you are questioning the measurements that I took on my Diamond Pro Am with Pro Cut pockets... and I believe that I can prove to you that I have. Per the diagram above, I trust that there is no issue with the 4.5" pocket mouth...

Team america north vs south video

Thanks as well... but I can't help but notice hoe easy that table plays with its bucket pockets and very short pocket shelves.

    Best tips for big table

I have a good tip, which was passed down to me repeatedly when I finally decided to jump into the water (a Saturday afternoon regular ring game with the best 9-ball players in the room that I used to play in). Rule #1.... Don't miss. Rule #2... Don't forget rule #1.

Think my stroke angles in a bit... can it be fixed without going back to square 1?

A check that I employ when I'm breaking in a rotational game is to focus on where my cue is pointing when I finish the stroke. It should be pointing directly in the direction of your aim point... howbeit with your tip on/near the cloth and with the butt of the cue raised accordingly. Focus...

BS drama and pool. Do they go hand and hand?

It's been my experience to avoid the ball bangers at all costs. The APA is full of them. Ball bangers don't understand the etiquette and honor of the game. They're simply nits... in the worst way possible. You did the right thing. Marking a pocket is absurd. Having to verbally call a pocket...

Need opinions on OLHAUSEN CHAMPION PRO

If you want a real pool table, buy a Diamond Pro or Pro Am. Olhausens are made to look good... not play good.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Dae - All the rest of the corner pockets on my table have 4.5" mouths and 3.5" throats.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Eric - Go back and re-measure your current table applying the post-it note approach and see if the numbers change. Mine did. The pocket throat dimension changed a lot. When I did that on my Diamond, the pocket throat dimension went from 3.75" down to 3.5" (causing the difference between the...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Dave, I just re-measured my "typical Diamond Pro Cut" pocket using the latest guidance and using post-it notes to "sharpen" the rounded off cushion points and to extend the backs of the cushions to intersect with the pocket facings. Doing so yielded a big difference in the Pocket Angle Factor...

    American Rotation on Accu-Stats

Got it, Joe. Thanks. What wasn't obvious to me was what was meant by "the player that takes the shot". I was thinking that it referred to the player making the 2-point ball in my example... but your explanation makes it clear it means the player that takes the shot following the push out...

    American Rotation on Accu-Stats

I read the rules (from Joe's website) and there's one aspect that doesn't seem quite right to me. The rules state that on the first rack of the match, if the opening player fails to pocket a ball on a legal break, the opponent comes to the table with the option of calling a shot, playing safe...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Dave, I need to re-measure my "typical Pro Cut Diamond" using the post-it note idea. I'll try to do that tonight.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

It definitely has an affect. Without cost being a consideration, we tend to select the cloth for our table based on which game we typically play. For me, it's rotation games so I went with Simonis 860. For a 14.1 player, he would likely pick Simonis 760. We can (somewhat) readily change the...
