Robert Ross Photo of Keith McCready

Jen - Of course I have no idea what the tenor of the book on Keith is like... but what stands out to me as a book title base on the one photograph of Keith is... On Top of the World I've watched a few youtube videos of Keith in his prime and that's the sense that I get out of his persona...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

1 7/16" is the correct nose height. It's that before the re-cal and the same afterwards. Taking 1/16" off the thickness of the subrails is counteracted by the 3 degree change in the bevel of the subrail's face to which the cushion is glued.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

I just got done re-checking my table's (9' Diamond Pro Am) pocket shelf depth and have verified that it indeed is 1 3/4". The method that I use was to lay a straight edge with some sighting-down depth (a level laying flat) with one side of the level intersecting both points of the cushions...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

In essence, yes. The only clarification I would make is they first take down the thickness of the subrails by 1/16" and then to get the nose of the cushion back up to where it belongs, they re-bevel the cushion attachment face by 3 degrees and then re-attach the cushions at the proper height...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

SP - Great explanation for when a table mechanic extends the subrails but I believe not applicable for re-calibrated rails on a Diamond, which in effect, only rotates the cushions slightly relative the the subrails. That would not change the pocket throat or the pocket shelf dimension.

Looks like you and I need to double-check our measurements because I'm the one that supplied Dave with the Diamond measurements and I doubt very much if Diamond has changed their slate or their pocket dimensions. For example, I believe that it's well known that Diamond corner pockets are 4 1/2"...

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Dave - My table is a standard 9' Diamond with (standard) Pro Cut pockets. And you have my measurements. The TDF is 1.07, which is 15% more difficult that a standard 9' Gold Crown, which seems right to me.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Dave - Out of curiosity, what are the measurements/calcs/factors of a standard 9' Gold Crown? Is that your "standard" of a table having a TDF of 1... which is in the center of the "average" range? Most of us are very familiar with a standard GC so that's why I asked the question.

Table Difficulty Factor (TDF) for measuring table "toughness"

Dave - I've got a 9' Diamond Pro Am with Pro Cut pockets. I measured/calculated the following: PMS 4.50" PTS 3.75" PMTD 0.75" PSD 1.75" TDF = 1.0 x 1.05 x 1.03 x 1.0 = 1.0815 Which is in the "tough" range... which I feel is appropriate. Mine is the original "Red Diamond" version so...

Bonus Ball Schedule: Right or Wrong

I voted right. If the players want the BB schedule to not conflict with other scheduled events, imo they should make those known to the BB organizers, who should work with the players and schedule their events accordingly. Otherwise, BB should be able schedule their events when they want.
