    Rags to Rifleman

My suggestion to Buddy would be to have someone professionally digitize his book and sell it online at $25 to $30 each. Less money invested by comparison to printing another edition. And much simpler.

Difference in "Blue Diamond" and "Red Diamond" pro-am tables

JC - Pretty good explanation, but here's how Glenn (aka RealKingCobra) explained it in a PM to me last year. The biggest difference I want is the effect he describes at the end of his answer. I'm going to have this done to my 9' Pro Am. Hi Dave, The changes involve taking the cushions off...

What cue case do you carry?

What Jude said. Mine is based on one of their standard designs but mine is designed/built for my 60" cues.

Cue sticks on planes aint gonna happen yet

Matches and fueled lighters are acceptable now as carry-on... but not in checked bags. And no, all pilots do not carry a firearm. Although about 11% are cleared to carry one.

Need instructional material about position play

Phil Capelle's Play Your Best Pool is a good one to start with. And Phil's Play Your Best 9-Ball is another. Both are excellent for position play and pattern play as well.

I've always used imageshack.us. It's easy. Google it and then follow the instructions.

    A poll

Clearly, player B should win the bet. For player A to have won the bet, the bet should have been... I'm going to break up that cluster AND make the next ball... which was not the case. Come to think about it, what game were you playing? Based on the OP, it sounds like either 8-ball or 9-ball...

You Can't Make Good $ In Bars Anymore

English composition was never my strong point, however now it could be with all this additional instruction.

Do you miss because you jump up, or do you jump up because you miss?

We miss because our body does not stay still during the stroke of shot. We can't stroke straight when our body is moving... even when moving slightly.

    Pool Table Lighting - Bulbs?

I use three of these above my 9' Diamond Pro Am... Home Depot n:Vision Bright White (3500k) bulbs. They do a great job lighting up the tournament blue Simonis 860 cloth on my table. No shadows or dead zones. They each draw only 23W of power... so three together draw less power than one 75W...

Would You let someone use the EZ Jumper Tool?

My recollection is as long as a pool accessory is being used the way it was intended by the designer, it is legal. For example, a jump bridge is intended to facilitate a jump shot by elevating the bridge height... and is therefore legal to use. Grabbing a couple of books and stacking them up...

Would You let someone use the EZ Jumper Tool?

As long as the tool (jump bridge in this case) is legal, then they should be allowed in any competition.

    9' Pool Table

FWIW, I believe that all tournament used Pro Ams are one-piece slates... for a fast set up and take down... if you go that route. And a 3-piece Pro Am is a special order item, or it used to be that way.

    9' Pool Table

I was faced with the same decision and I chose the Pro Am with Dymonwood rails. They are impervious. You can take a pool ball and throw it down on top of the rail as hard as you want and it will rebound to the ceiling and you will never be able to tell where on the rail the ball hit. That, and...

Why Pool is devastated by the new Smoking Laws.

That would be the case for me. Outside of work, I practically lived in a bar/poolroom when smoking was still allowed here in WA state. As a result, I probably shot pool for at least 20 hours per week... maybe up to 25. The WA smoking ban went into effect on 12/8/2005. Within 2.5 years, I...

Thinking of Starting a Local Bonus Ball League

If it were me, I'd start the league playing the 6-pocket version. You can always upgrade to the 3-pocket version if the majority of the members support the change. The problem I see is the initial investment of the cost of the unique set of balls. At $200 a set the cost will build up fast...

Carom plugs for 7' diamond pro am

Don't know about plugs but if it were me, I'd buy a set of carom table rails from Diamond. I'm guessing that they would play much better than plugs. And aren't carom balls a smaller diameter than pool balls? If so, plugs wouldn't be a good solution because of the height of the rails. The...
