The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

I think Earl needs a timer. Not a timer to speed him up, but one to slow him down. He is literally shooting some shots in just a couple seconds after his previous shot. He likes to shoot fast and gets a rhythm going, but sometimes he out dances the music. He is shooting so many power shots...

    Maximum Pocket Size?

The dimensions of all tables of equal size should be the same, unless someone is ordering custom. All these BS bastardized tables, pool cue joints, etc. ruin the game and products. Some people say pockets are too big. OK Mosconi, why aren’t you’re running multi-packs? If the tables are too...

And he is making them at Mach speed, too. He is almost running 100 before the average player gets through a couple racks.

What is the weight of the bolt you are looking for?

I think McDermott used to make some cues for AES and so did Viking. My friend, Fred Schmidt, had a cue made by them that had a C-14 butt sleeve and a different model forearm. His cue had the AES logo like yours. The butt sleeve on your AES is modified from the McDermott C-14 butt.

The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

I think Earl has the ability to put down as many balls as anyone on the planet if he could get in the right frame of mind and concentrate for the time it took. He doesn’t “map the table” in his mind like the old-school, full-time 14.1 players did before they started dissecting the racks. He...

That is a nice bunch of cues you have. AES is A. E. Schmidt. I think them and McDermott had some kind of deal going on before.

The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

Earl has the ability to run many hundreds, but I am not sure he has the personality or patience to bear down and play a “simpler” game. He puts way too many miles on the cue ball when all he would have to do is pay more attention to the simpler patterns and keep his cue ball under a shorter...

    Help identifying cue?

Reminds me of a production cue made in Taiwan.

Took The Old McDermott Out For A Stroll Today

I played some with it again on Thursday. I love the hit of this old C-14 cue…SOLID…and it moves the cue ball with ease. I should take this other one out for a stroll. It is the second cue down.

If he had a Jackpot, he’d have already beat the record. :)

I know that. Earl is playing “his way”. He may never get into the range of several hundred, but he makes it entertaining.

The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

I like watching him put so much “mojo” on the cue ball with that 14mm cannon. Lots of people believe (falsely) that you need a skinny shaft to juice it up. The Taiwanese players love thick solid-maple shafts that are stiff. Most of them can’/don’t use the amount of juice that Earl does, though.

Nice older cue not sure the maker?

Looks like an old ADAM cue of some kind.

The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

I agree. If you are feeling a little “shaky” in your stroke, can you quit for the day, get a night’s sleep, get up and have breakfast, hit a bunch of balls giving lessons, and then come back to the table and pretend it is a “continuous” run?

The Legendary Pearl to Take On 14.1 Attempts

If he has been giving lessons he has, more than likely, been hitting balls.
