Are the old Adam cues from the 70's and 80's nice players?

I got one of the last few Adam un-branded George Balabushka cues from the Japan factory before they quit making them. It plays pretty sporty with the Peter Tascarella shaft that I got for it. For those who don't know cues, it is the black ebony cue witth the diamond inlays. (Post edited for...

And slow cloth made even slower by the humidity caused by the lack of or poorly working A/C in many places.

"Lock and load" the shoulder to control movement?

If you can consistently run racks, continue what you are doing. It may be possible to change/correct MINOR things that will improve your game, but if you can already run racks you don't need to fix your stroke. Not everyone is built the same way and not everyone feels comfortable doing things...

    Schmelke Sneaky Pete

Here is a cue I had Dave Schmelke custom make for me a few years back. Full-splice four point purple heart into an ebony nose. 19 ounces with 19" balance point. G-10 pin. Leather wrap. No metal in cue. Here

I bought this cue new in 1985 when the catalog for the D models had just came out. I ordered it through the owner of the pool hall where I grew up playing and working. I bought it to flip, but it played so good that I made it my main player and sold my shooter that Richard Black made for me...

Best display of cueing you've ever seen

Andam passed away on May 22, 2014, at the age of 55, due to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Iligan City, Philippines. He was en route to a tournament in Ozamiz City when the incident occurred. Earlier reports mentioned a possible heart attack, but confirmed accounts attribute his...

John makes excellent cues. Here is a Coos cue he made for me. Cocobolo with a Sindora burl handle and it's cored with Purple Heart. I got three shafts and an extension with it.

If you know the joint diameter of the after-market shaft you plan to use, they can make the butt joint match it. I have had custom cues and shafts made by them.

FWIW, I own the cue that was used to win that tournament where Earl ran those racks.

If pool is to grow, you have to satisfy the audience, not the players. Some people are taller than others in basketball. Should dunks be taken out of basketball? Make matches sufficiently long so that it is unlikely a player will run out the match from the intial break on the first game...

Alternate breaks does not let a player catch a gear and perform to their true potential. There are many people who will try to use statistics to say that it really doesn't matter who breaks. Ask the players if they prefer to break and see what they say.

    1990s 9-ball McCready vs. Paez

Today's pool, with the super fast cloth and bouncy rails, is almost a different game from what was played years ago. Years ago, there were times that you had to hit the cue ball almost as hard as a break shot just to move it around the table for position, especially table-length draw shots. In...

    Dress code in tournaments

I have no problem wearing anything to play in a pool tournament as long the required clothing doesn't restrict my motion and interfere with my stroke and movement when leaning over the table.

I prefer to walk around with my clothes not looking like they need to be washed. :)

I prefer wearing dark clothes when playing pool. Dark colors don't show chalk marks and pool room dirt as much light-colored clothing.

    Tube style case question.

Most people do this from what I have observed. I don't know why. I have never done that.
