    1990s 9-ball McCready vs. Paez

This is much more entertaining to watch than today's pool. Today's pool is too sterile. The players have no "personality" at the table.

I have heard the CJ story, too.

    TX HOF Sept 2nd 2025

Nice posts. Glad to see Richard is doing well. Richard and I go back to 1978. CJ is a good dude, too, and I enjoy when he comes to HI. I have the cue he won the 1996 Million Dollar Challenge Tournament with. The tournament where Earl Strickland ran the 11 racks of 9-ball for a million dollars.

    9-Ball Pushout - Foul

Jumping should not be allowed in pool, with or without a jump cue.

Things to consider for those forum members buying their first pool cue

The best cue for you is any cue I put up for sale. Trust me.

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

Other than the one ball and the nine ball, the balls should be racked in a "random" order. Placing the same balls in the same positions every rack is "pattern" racking and should not be allowed.

SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn hearing aids off?

I actually think hearing my tip hit the cue ball and hearing the cue ball hit the object balls give me a better sense of how much speed I am using. When I am wearing ear buds while playing I never have the music so loud that I can't hear the table sounds.

    Show me your wrapless cues

Thank you. That cue looks fantastic. John makes the woods stand out in all his cues.

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

This match between the two women going on now reminds me of something I'd see on an APA league night.

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

Lots of people will say the bigger pockets and winner break format make the game too easy and no fun to watch. I am the opposite. If they think it is too easy, extend the number of games in a match rather than make it harder to pocket balls. If it is easier to pocket balls, it should speed up...

Because it is more of a carnival than it is serious pool.

    Black Ferrules

I used to mark my shaft on the top side so that I always had my shaft oriented the same. Shafts flex and deflect the cue ball differently based upon which way they are oriented.

    9-Ball Pushout - Foul

If you push, that is your 1st foul. Now, your opponent has the option to shoot the shot or pass it back to youl If the opponent chooses to shoot, your foul is erased. If your opponent makes you shoot it and you make a foul on THAT shot, you receive your 2nd foul and your opponent has BIH.

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

I prefer slower tables. I don't like bunting.

    9-Ball Pushout - Foul

I think this type of 9-ball is a more interesting and fun game to play and watch than 1-foul BIH.

What causes very slight warping in pool cue butts?

FWIW, nobody on the planet has ever missed a ball because of a slight warp in a cue. It makes a good excuse though.

    9-Ball Pushout - Foul

We always called it two-shot rollout when I was playing it.

    Ebony and Maple, No Veneers

The bottom cue is ebony and maple. The top cue is ebony and camphor burl. The middle cue is cocobolo and sindora burl.

When Did Simonis Become The #1 Tournament Choice?

Per Grok 3, eye specialists, and ME...GREEN cloth is BEST: 1. Why Green is Preferred for Pool Tables Standard in Pool: Most pool tables, especially for professional and recreational play, have green felt (often a shade like tournament green). This is not arbitrary; green provides a visually...
