My Home Room- Dot's Cue Club in Rocky Mount, NC

We have a local place like that around here, they do serve alcohol though but are mainly a restaurant. They are able to open the bar and serve food but they must keep the pool tables closed. They tried opening them for the first night when phase two went into affect but someone called and...

Well technically they can call it a protest, then our Governor will be all for it.

My Home Room- Dot's Cue Club in Rocky Mount, NC

That would be nice, but I don't think the Governor is considering any more phases until June 26th. I hope they go rouge and defy this current nonsense of our Governor playing favorites and picking and choosing which venues can be open.

Another how would you shoot it thread

I was practicing with a friend last night and the following shot came up in 8ball. Neither of us could consistently make this shot, we were about 20% making it. Both of us initially used opposite English than the other. So we debated a little bit and experimented with both right and left spin...

Slow MDF table - Will better balls help?!

I am guessing that your original ball set had a mismatched cue ball (probably set for a coin-op table). So it was either heavier or slightly larger than the rest of the set, which is why you had trouble with getting cue ball action. Glad to hear your new set is much more enjoyable.

Do you perfer wood to wood joint or SS and why

I prefer a wood to wood joint, preferablly with a big pin. Radial or 3/8X10 are my goto joints. I can't really tell you why but those are the types of cues I lean towards when hitting different cues. I think it might just be the look, I am not a fan of the big metal joint in the middle of my cue.

    Pool Room Light Control Software.

As far as I know X10 is really old and unreliable (at least in residential settings). Newer protocols such as Zwave and Zibgee have replaced X10. If this was me I would setup a Hubitat hub and plug each individual light into a smart dedicated plug. Then you can control each light from a...

    Benefits of quality balls

That is the main reason I use high quality balls. The second reason is they stay cleaner than the cheap one.

They are doing the 8-ball on Friday nights. I was never able to make it because I have other social commitments on Friday nights.

    Drills? Self-paced improvement tips?

Two things that really helped my game. 99 critical shots in pool. I did two or three of them a day and randomly went back to some of the shots every so often. Tor Lowery pattern puzzles. Again two or three a day. I really like these because you learn to pocket balls and play position. The...

My Home Room- Dot's Cue Club in Rocky Mount, NC

Its still alive and kicking. They got new owners a couple years ago and they upgraded the tables in front of the bar to 7ft diamonds and left the old school 9ft Gold Crowns and 9ft Diamond tables behind the bar. You get the best of both worlds. They had a really nice in house league going on...

My Home Room- Dot's Cue Club in Rocky Mount, NC

There are three pool rooms in Wilmington. Rack'M, Breaktime and Ortons. All three are worth a visit for different reasons. Honorable mention to Tavern 14 as well, they have great food and a couple of 7ft diamonds and Valley tables.

I wouldn't count on bars / pool rooms being opened but I hope I am wrong. We are still pretty much shutdown right now.

My homeroom here in Wilmington, NC (Rack'm) also took this time to make some changes and "spruce" the place up. So far it looks really good, can't wait to get in their to play.

Chinese knockoff table: 7ft Gold Crown V

your going to need to find someone to transport it from the port and set it up for you. If cost is an issue for you make sure you factor that in. sorry, I don't know anything about the table quality or how it plays.

    Diamond Rails

Yes they are both good rails. The reason Diamond chose the "black diamond" rubber for the smaller tables is to try and get the same consistancy with table speed on all of their tables. The artemis rails are a tad faster than the black diamond to help accommodate the longer travel needed on a...
