What Cue Specs do you prefer?

Well I thought I found my perfect cue, the Jacoby HB5, but it showed up today and the REVO radial shaft doesn't even come close to fitting this cue unfortunately. I can't get the shaft and butt screwed all the way together and it seems the Jacoby joint diameter is .847 and the REVO is .840...

Getting a Bar Box Purchased and Installed

not a mechanic, but all I can say is buy what you really want. If you have to wait and save money, do that. Once you purchase a table its not really easy to swap them out later. Buy once, cry once.

What Cue Specs do you prefer?

Still trying to find my perfect playing cue. I been trying a few over the past few years and can't find the perfect combination of what I want. #1 -- I know I like the Revo Shaft 12.4 with WVP tipped with an ultra skin medium. I got that part nailed down. The problem is finding the exact butt...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

In my area we have a minor masters league that has a skill level limit of 5. If you are over a SL5 you must play in regular masters league. However there isn't anything in place to stop players from playing Masters if they want to. Myself for example played minor masters for one season and then...

When you can't get natural angle;.... do you use draw or follow?

hmm.. i am used to playing on diamond with very live cushions. I never really even considered table conditions for my shot selection. If I were playing on slow cloth or dead rails, rail first would be my choice, however I always struggle with speed control going rail first and it would be easy...

When you can't get natural angle;.... do you use draw or follow?

Dead straight in, draw or follow is only going to scratch. You need to cheat the pocket and create an angle and use a LOT of sidespin to spin off the rail to have any decent chance at the nine. I am probably going to cheat the pocket and play follow with right spin.

    Lasik

For the first month or so after the procedure I did have dry eyes and used drops once or twice a day. After those first couple of months I don't use drops at all and do not have dry eyes.

    Lasik

I had lasek done last sept (so about 14 months ago). The only thing I did was wish I got it done sooner. It has really improved my pool game, in the past year, I went from an average apaSL4 to a SL6 (8ball). I have not had a lot of issues with night halo's and glare, if you currently have...

Best hand tool for fixing mushroomed tip?

I use that with my lathe to trim tips. Beats the crap out of ANY razor blade I have used in the past. Seems to hold up as well, did about 50 tips since I started using that tool and it seems to be holding strong. I used to have a new razorblade every other tip or so.

Best hand tool for fixing mushroomed tip?

I like the last4ever tip tool and just grind off the mushroom and then burnish. I will wrap the ferrule with some blue painters tape just in case I slip off the tip.

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Well I spoke too soon in my last post, They raised me to a 6 this week. Lost both of my matches against really good 6's this week. A couple small mistakes cost me each match but I was super comepetitive in each rack. I was pretty happy about that. It was a weird week because 1/2 of my team was...

    How to Tighten Bridge Head?

I also use electrical tape to get the perfect diameter to fit the bridge head onto.

What do you prefer to break with? Heavy or light?

I only know very basic physics (think high school level). In the case of the cue stick hitting the cue ball there is still a driving force acting (pushing)on the cue ball during the collision. I think that changes some things with a pure elastic collision (where are rolling ball hits another...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

This is a very similar thing that happens to me (APA 5 in both 8 and 9) as well, except for some reason in TriCups and Vegas qualifier tournaments I tend to always play above my skill level. I only started playing league the season or two before covid hit, but I play on a couple teams and...

What do you prefer to break with? Heavy or light?

Your're correct, I just did a quick math assumption in my head. I thought it seemed a little low. Funny, I did the harder of the two correctly....... Some days the balls just don't go in the pockets :)

    TAOM V10

I agree with this, blue diamond is one of the messiest chalks I have used and it sticks to balls like none other (well maybe kamui). I actually keep a piece of blue diamond in my practice bag for when I want to intentionally leave marks on the cue ball so I can see exactly where I struck the...

What do you prefer to break with? Heavy or light?

you just have to find what your limit factor is. the simplistic formula is F=MA (M=cuestick weight, A= cuestick Acceleration). That being said, going from a 18oz to 20oz break cue would be a 4% increase (EDIT -- its actually a 11.1% increase, Thanks Bob Jewett for pointing that out) in F (which...

A push out theory you've never heard lol

most league players that I play with are not capable of running out a 9 ball rack on any consistent basis (including me). So pushing out after the break isn't really doesn't make a difference in 99% of games since both players typically have multiple chances at the table. I can see at the higher...

So Mezz has a new joint pin

I really really really wanted to buy a mezz cue as my playing cue, but I ended up buying a predator just because of Mezz's proprietary joints. I wanted to be able to experiment with different shafts without sending them to a cue maker to customize. This newer style of joint just reaffirms my...

Viking Cue Customer Service and Warranty

I had the opposite experience with them. I have my first cue I bought in college in the mid 90's that the finish coat is peeling off. I contacted them and they won't honor my warranty because I don't have my original receipt from 20 years ago....... They wouldn't do anything, basicly told me to...
