But where can I get an 8 cent Willard shaper?

Please help with my tip issue.

I am still confused by your reference to 8 and now 9 cent shaped. What benefit do you get holding it in a vice? Typically, from what I have seen, hand cutting the tip is done with the shaft vertical. Hard to see actual detail but it looks like the shaft was already gripped with the pliers...

Please help with my tip issue.

What the hell is 8 cents? He handed it to you, and you looked at it. Why didn't you hand it back and ask to have more taken off and dime shaped? If you like it long and he cut it short you would have an actual issue. All he has to do is reshape it, easy. I have had people ask me to take more...

White dots in the epoxy finish

I am nearly out of the Max I was using and decided to try out the BSI Finish Cure you suggested. Do you use this for everything or finish only and use something else for internal glueing?

    History of Joint Protectors?

Yes, I mentioned it earlier, but I do like to bore out the area for the first few threads. For the big pin cues there is a decision to be made though. Do you want to be able to screw the JPs together when not in use? The JP pin is half or less long as the cues pin. If you remove all but the last...

    History of Joint Protectors?

I find this question very interesting as well. The tangent discussion on usefulness and time wasted aside, how this item first came into being and why it continued and evolve to present day may be small, but it is interesting. The oldest so far is just a cork. It may not stop a bent pin, but it...

Torrefied Break Shaft.. Will it work?

Thanks for everyone's input. I talked with him and it looks like it will be hard maple. He doesn't want to risk it.

    Increase in custom cue prices

Yes, many conversions can be very basic. I did one conversion in about an hour. Cut it in half, install a pin and an insert. My first conversions were very basic and not worth a lot. Others have whole new butt sleeves and needed a new shaft made. Go buy a new shaft and get your cue refinished...

    Increase in custom cue prices

I understand your view if very little was done. Slap a pin in it and clean it up, maybe refinished. If it is used as a blank, how is a Dufferin conversion different from a Balabushka that used old house cues and blanks from other makers. Suppliers like Prather sells all kinds of point blanks, so...
