Elbow Drop - Billiards Digest October 2024

What do You mean, 'Billard Grade'? Explain please! This is a 'Standard Brunswick 5'x10' 3C table' made in 1943-45. The Simonis 3C cloth from 83, was a little faster than the 83 Simonis 'Pool' cloth. It has 1.5" slate, K55 rubber which was likely about 25-30 years old. I'm playing on it 40...

Elbow Drop - Billiards Digest October 2024

I'm going to show You a video from 1983. A Non Heated Brunswick Anniversary 3C table. The cloth was Simonis, (3 months old) K55 rubber. Myself, playing 3C 'Trick shots' which require a 'Stroke'! Notice I do Not contact the CB with 'Visible' force.

Elbow Drop - Billiards Digest October 2024

I would say 90% of 3C players apply the 'Piston Stroke' on 95% of shots. Meaning, not a lot of 'Elbow Drop'. The force needed for a few shots is ,why the, 'Run up to the CB' is faster, the shaft goes through further, hence the drop. Artistic 3C players have more 'Combinations of the 2 strokes'!

    Allen Gilbert Ticky

Not an Allen Gilbert Ticky, but these two are pretty sporty! The 1st example is a Ticky with 3 Long rails! The 2nd is a Ticky with 3 Short cushions!

    Allen Gilbert Ticky

There's '2' ways this 'Ticky' can be made. The first has the CB contacting the long rail then, contacts the 2nd ball sort of 'more than half full' on the 'wrong side' of the 2nd ball. This causes a 'Kiss' off that ball back to the 'long rail then short rail' to score the point! The second is...

How good was Jimmy Mataya in his prime? Should he be in the HOF?

It's always 'Amazing' to me when I see people that post their 'Uneducated' opinions on Players that Really gambled 'Tough' action at Cue games! If they couldn't correctly 'Handicap/lost a measly Bet' in a match, it's a Dump! Professional 'Cry Babies' is all they are! What's amazing, these...

Post Cataract surgery and missing balls, 18 months later

The 'Lens' had nothing to do with what occurred in my case! In my 'right' eye I've had 24 procedures since 2007. Totally lost the eyesight in the Right since 2019. Bottom line I developed, Glaucoma. On Tuesday, I'm going in for a PK (total) 'Cornea Transplant'!

Post Cataract surgery and missing balls, 18 months later

Real quickly, having cataract surgery on both eyes in 2007 was the Worst decision I've personally made in my Life!

    Question for old timers@

In the 60's -70's I used to play with Champion. But, I used to cut off the 'Red fiber' backing. I never could understand why a player would want a 'Shock Absorber' between the 'Tendon/shaft' and the tip! I want to be able to 'Feel' the response of the 'Hit' from the tip thru the shaft! This...

    Question for old timers@

Le Pros, I believe are, 'Ground up leather dust mixed with glue'! When you cut them down on a Lathe, it's mostly dust! Real Leather cuts off in 'Ribbons'!

Reflections on the Life of a Hustler

I received an unexpected very enjoyable call from a Very good old friend today! He seemed excited about the previewing of this book and gave me His 'Stamp of Approval'! Himself being an accomplished Author! We 'Cut up Jackpots' about the 'Old Days' Hustling, and how it's a 'Lost Art'...
