Would You Still Gamble With This Guy?

UPA 10 Ball Rule on breaks: "3.0 LEGAL BREAK SHOT For the break shot to be legal, the breaker (with the base of the cue ball placed anywhere behind the head string) must either pocket an object ball or drive at least three (3) object balls to one or more rails. If the breaker fails to make the...

Would You Still Gamble With This Guy?

I think you made a mistake here, but know that I'm not an experienced player or gambler. His soft break was a foul, as you point out. At that point you have ball in hand, anywhere on the table. When he said "I get all the breaks!" you should have said, "yes, but that was a foul, and I now...

Can someone please straighten my snooker cue?

I have a Woods snooker cue, ash wood, I imagine, that has a bit of a warp near the tip. Can someone straighten it out for me? Thanks, jv

    New Balls

I think that if you clean the balls and the table regularly - like, as a habit - the balls will last a very long time. Cue chalk is abrasive, on purpose; it contributes to wear on the balls. If you vacuum the chalk off the cloth and clean it off the balls often, you will probably reduce the...

    New Balls

That's a great price, I would grab them! Unless you want the top of the line, the Tournament, which would be at least $100 more.

    New cloth suggestions ... ?

Rex, I respect your opinion, I consider you one of the experts here. But, I must say, as an engineer, that there is no way to know how HR lasts compared to the competition based on the rather terse testimony of one fellow. There's no objective measure. What does "lasts" mean? He could have...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Yes, I think that's what happens, too. I often see a set of cheap balls in a box from a good set, but rarely the other way around. Why would someone replace a decent set of Centennials with a set of Harvards?

I would think it wouldn't be too tough to fabricate one, though I haven't researched it (yet).

Thanks! Wow, I didn't know 6 red ball was a thing! Can you get a rack for the six balls? (Or just use the regular triangle rack, I suppose.)

    Pool Ball Collecting.

I'm fortunate enough to live near the only public 12' snooker table in the Northeast U.S. (as far as I can tell). It's a Brunswick, and it has all of the features and style of a Gold Crown. I can't imagine potting 2 1/4" balls, though! (I'm not that good.) I do have a set of 2 1/4" snooker...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Wow, I'm jealous! I'd love to have a 12' snooker table. My room's big, but not that big! How do the 2 1/4" balls work on those rails and pockets?

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Thanks. I resorted to the citrus cleaner, and then the chlorine, as the cloths was loading up with the yellow stuff. Thought the Aramith products would do a better job with it removed first.

    Pool Ball Collecting.

The Centennials cleaned up very nicely, and I'm super excite that I got a good set for only $20. But, the cleaning experience was weird. Let me explain, so hopefully someone more expert and experienced than me with this may comment and enlighten me as to better techniques. I changed what I...

    Pool Ball Collecting.

I advocate scaling down balls and pockets, and rails as appropriate, with smaller tables. Scaling down linearly yours would have 1 1/2" balls, compared to 2 1/4" on a 9' table. I think it would play better, i.e., more fun.

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Yes, indeed, a set of Centennials in a Harvard box for $20. Thrilled. Cleaning them now. They are quite dirty, but in excellent shape. But, my hands are stained yellow now. What could that be, and how can I clean them? I'm using the Aramith Restorer and Cleaner, and the cloths are...
