    Table Leveling Standards

Rob, Glen doesn't use playing cards that I'm aware of. Wedge shims from Home Depot is what he demonstrated in Alsip. I believe Diamond uses 20 plus levels on their tables with the leveling system built in. Thats why Glen was using the directional arrows to simulate the placement of the...

    Table Leveling Standards

Josh, Very well stated! How about a book, like the building code or the electrical code or the plumbing code, only for the billiards industry? (more like 100 pages than 1000) The problem is that someone or some body of people has to decide whats included and whats excluded. In other words, what...

    Table Leveling Standards

Good morning John, Could you first produce the standard for the spread sheet (excel), perhaps a link to a template that we could all use. Sort of a standard for the standard.... Are we going to have a board of review? How do we arrive at a consensus of which system or placement is THE...

Advice for Buying a New Table, Please

Try Josh Ebert from Club Billiards. Last I heard he had some very nice Diamond Pro's 9 footers with a matching light for around $3000.00 but don't quote me. I know he's at Derby city setting up tables for Diamond but you can contact him here at AZ. He posts under the name ClubBilliards he has...

Remove smoke smell from table **

The only truley effective process I've found is ozone. This will eliminate the smell of smoke rather than just mask it. We have used this technology on tables that have been in smokey pool rooms for years and it really does the job well. It also eliminates mold, mildew and most organic smells...

What cushions are on my table?

Rob, I've also switched away from superspeed cushions to the black Diamond cushion. The Superspeed cushion is very poorly finished on the edges and has had many of the same rapid breakdown characteristics as the cheap imports without the cheap price. I'm recommending the Artemis, Northern...

Advice from those who are NOT Table Mechanics

Big K, I've been to your home and seen your table, I would say it's the best DIY job I've ever seen. Your refinishing was superb, your level was spot on, your issues with the rail extensions was resolved perfectly and the overall quality of the installation would make many mechanics jealous...

    Proposed changes to mechanics directory

Rick, Is this the first incident of a listed mechanic doing a sub par job? If so, I think the referral section has been working amazingly well. If a customer has a problem with work preformed they can certainly post the details of their issues with that mechanic. Most customers would be...

    heated table

The humidity of a billiard table is kept as LOW as possible on the PLAYING SURFACE by the heaters under the slate for several reasons. First, the cloth can't wick moisture from the air due to it's higher temperature. Second, The rails and cushion rubber will be much more consistent day in and...
