Help with picking between two tables

The Gold crown that was pictured in the ad was a Gold Crown 1 . You can tell this by the wide chrome trim on the rail. The Gold Crown one tables used a "J" channel to attach the aprons. A Gold Crown 3 uses bolts into a 5/16 insert to attach the aprons. If you are considering the purchase of...

Unqualified Recommendation -- Jay Spielberg of A-1 Billiard Service

Thanks for the kind words guy's. Keep in mind we had a perfect table to re-hab. The Brunswick Anniversary D-C model is a super table once the sins of past mistakes are corrected. Kleber P 59 cushions are the best playing cushion in the world (IMHO) and that's why all the top Carom table makers...

Interesting Gold Crown copy with steel bed

The Cosmos used a green Asian cushion I had never seen before, played OK. The Chevillotte uses the Kleber cushion (the best cushion in the world IMO) The Gabriel used Artemis K66. Jay

Interesting Gold Crown copy with steel bed

The other tables are made by cosmos in Korea under a licence from Chevillotte. The billiard tables I worked on used Granite instead of slate. They go together fairly easily with the exception of the apron corners. It's a cheap knock off the Chevillotte which is built and plays much better. Jay

    Centennial restoration

Mark, As I stated in my post on the main forum, you are an artist with the mechanical and cosmetics of pool tables. Fantastic conversion and rebuild on that table. The restoration of the original reddish tones on the Brazilian rose wood rails was the best I've ever seen! Just a great job! Jay

    Simonis 860 glue down method

Glad to hear it's working for you. The idea behind the videos was to allow mechanics and installers to be comfortable working with Simonis cloth on various tables and scenarios. As Glen has stated many times, "if you can install Simonis correctly you can install any cloth". The one thing you...

    Simonis 860 glue down method

Three surfaces versus one When Glen and I did the videos for Simonis, we had a lot of discussion about the "glue down" method. We had to take into consideration that many states are not allowed to sell the 3M 10 adhesive. Since the videos were being sold into states and country's without access...

    Brunswick Centennial ready for action

This table is a work of art! Hi Mark, I remember this table in pieces in your shop. I can let everybody know it was one of the worst, most beat up SNOOKER tables I ever seen. The rebuild and restoration job you did goes way beyond a "great mechanic", it's really a work of art. Your mechanical...

Thanks Dave for the kind words. I want to thank Bob DeTurk for the powder coating on the castings and the feet, Great Job! Dave you were very patient with your table and that's why you got a great table and a great deal. I'm glad we found you that pro eight GC 3 rather than attempting the set...

What nap roller do you use for glue?

I like the 1/4 inch nap x 3 inch rollers. Just keep your roller moving with light pressure on the cloth and lift the roller off the cloth before stopping. Jay

    Vally Rails to be recovered

Very true Glen! Using only 9-12 staples per rail made my life much easier. Glen you should also be known as the "GLUE KING" The DVDs are available from Syberts supply as Glen stated earlier and you will save the cost of the DVD on your first recovery. The same DVD shows the recovery of...

    GC playing like a Diamond

If you have your rails calibrated to the Diamond spec, change you pocket openings to 4.5 inch corners with 14 degree down angles, change your cushions to Artemis or Diamond black, they will be similar, the pocket shelf depth is different on Gold crowns than Diamonds. Where are you located? If...
