A couple of thoughts.
First, the largest coil on that model is 30mm / 1,18" which is a little small for most butt caps.
Second, induction heaters work very quickly, so don't leave it on for very long.
" wrapping, refinishing, pins, ferrule, collars" basic knowledge perhaps, but it takes years to learn.
As suggested, get Chris Hightower's book and read it through.

I don't know where you are searching, but they are readily available. This one is adjustable, which will be heavier that than a fixed length and it's 7 oz.

Most wood shafts have been sealed to keep out exterior moisture. Your stain is basically just that - external moisture. So you would need to sand the entire shaft down to wood first. This should help you get a consistent stain the full length of the cue. Depending on how deep the sealer...
