SVB cheating? Shaw/SVB Derby 9 Ball

Proposal: Players alternate breaks but after each break, they flip a coin to determine who plays from the post-break position. (Ok, that would cause the rack mechanics to become coin mechanics, but a better randomizing device could be used.)

So, to recap the long, winding discussion. 1. Frost's first set of power one pocket videos are very good. 2. Watching Accustats is great. Personally, I can't stand to watch the non-high def ones anymore, so I prefer the more recent ones. 3. Unless you plan to ever gamble with me, you should...

This years US Open 9 ball is has the strongest field ever assembled in history

Mike -- I think you could get some idea of whether/how players' skill drifts over time by using a fixed metric like Accustats rating. Have you done a scatter of Accustats TPA vs. Fargo ratings? What's the correlation? If the relationship is strong, then you could normalize Fargo ratings such...

John did good work for me, so I'll second the recommendation. He's also a very good player and nice guy.

(I did these quickly, but Mike Page or Bob Jewett, etc. will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure.) You could this as Tony winning 3 out of 8 days of play. If they are dead even, meaning the probability of winning is 50/50, then the odds of Tony winning exactly 3 of 8 days are 22% (and the...

Call the hit: Me vs Ghost

At about 40 seconds in your video, it looks like the 3-ball moved a hair farther than the 9 ball. Since the angle of approach to the two balls was about the same, that would imply the 3 was hit first by a tiny amount. However, that could be an artifact of the camera angle. I also find your...

Call the hit: Me vs Ghost

When I Youtube slomo your already slow mo video, I see the 3 ball hit a microsecond (or less) before it hits the 9-ball. And yes on the double-kiss on the 3, too--my naked eye is pretty good!

Call the hit: Me vs Ghost

That was my initial thought, but on a thin enough hit on the 3, the 3-ball action could be the result of a second contact with the 3. I.e., CB could graze the 3, hit the 9, and hit the 3 again from below and send the 3 uptable. I can't say for sure, so tie goes to the shooter. Good hit. More...

Best win percentage in your apa league

Mike -- The APA matches are handicapped. So if you're a 7 playing mostly <7s and winning 80% then you would be substantially more than 200 points above the average FargoRate of your opponents. Or maybe I'm misreading your point? To answer the original question, I'm 72% lifetime within the DC...

    Your thoughts on 8-ball tactics

Yes, you're buddy is correct. I'll add that if you clear out one end of the table and then get stuck on the other end of the table, you usually give your opponent huge safety zones at the end of the table where she has balls but you don't.

    2018 Derby City Classic questions.

Agree. I went for the first time in 2017 and didn't think off-site would be a big deal. But because the nature of DCC is to get too little sleep, I regretted my choice a lot. An easy place onsite to nap and shower is well worth it if it's in your budget.
