What do you think the best shotmakers have in common?

Michael Jordan addressed your exact question. He said what separates the good pro's from the great ones is solid fundamentals. You can get away with winging it and having tons of talent but to get to the elite level you need the fundamentals. Maybe this is why you often see the great ones...

Adjusting aim when down on the shot without losing accuracy in alignment

Fantastic! Putting in the hours and paying attention to detail has really paid off for you. I'm up to about 1 hour per week right now. :(

Adjusting aim when down on the shot without losing accuracy in alignment

That's great progress. What size table are you playing on? That makes a big difference - bar box vs 9 foot, etc..

How do you handle light sharking?

I don't know if it is the same incident remembered differently but Mosconi said that was Irving Crane always dressed in a nice suit so they would have fun with him by accidentally spilling white powder on his trousers.

How do you handle light sharking?

I knew a guy years ago, before earbuds, who would put two quarters in his ear. That's two, not one, and only in one ear. I never asked.

Most common positional shots in rotation games, that require extreme side?

I saw an old Mike Sigel match recently in which he was hitting a rail shot where the ob was maybe an inch off the rail. He used extreme low outside for the shot which really surprised me. I hit some shots like that and you can pretty much aim straight at the ob and it will go in... not sure...

    Don't forget chinchillas, too.

Adjusting aim when down on the shot without losing accuracy in alignment

Didn't have time to read this and give it justice, but I think you have to have your chin on the cue for this to work. Is that right? Most don't play that way.

    That makes perfect sense. thanks

    Pivoting at the Elbow

Do you think such a player should be introduced to the fixed elbow method as an option for them to try or would you only do that as a last resort?

    Pivoting at the Elbow

To answer both questions, I think I must have some lateral movement going on while dropping the elbow, or maybe the dropping elbow caused my hand to react a certain way to throw the cue off line. It could be anything. The more I started paying attention to pro players the more I saw the fixed...

    Pivoting at the Elbow

I had what Mark Wilson called a total collapse of the elbow when I shot. I think learning the fixed elbow was the single best thing I have done in 20 years to improve my game. It is not easy to do and not easy to ingrain because, IMO, it is not a natural movement. We always think natural...

    Unusual/weird/unique billiard tools and implements

I think the aprons the old timers used to keep chalk off their pants is pretty much a relic by now.

    The Mathematical Theorem Behind Poolology

It's the real deal. I Wish I had some structure to fall back on decades ago when I was learning.

    GRIP QUESTION

Well I guess neither of us saw him in his prime so who knows. I think maybe I reacted to the word "crooked." I don't think that is the best word for what he is doing.

    GRIP QUESTION

I've never heard anyone say Mosconi had a crooked stroke before. When he was in his later years he developed a kind of body language that caused the tip to veer at the end of the follow through. Maybe that's what you are referring to.

    Aiming Circles/Disks vs Aiming Spheres

    Unsolvable 14.1 racks

There have been many books and internet articles etc. written about position play so I'm not sure what you mean. If you develop something useful that hasn't been done then great.
