    Multi-combo challenge

Yes, every consequent ball amplifies the error. I haven't tried this myself yet, but just from the math/geometry alone it would seem like 15 balls on a 9ft table spaced out evenly like in the line up drill would be exceptionally hard.

    Multi-combo challenge

Set up the balls like in this image. Line up drill style. Hit the 1 ball straight towards the 2 ball. Your goal is to have a chain reaction as long as possible before the next ball in line no longer hits the next one directly. If a ball bounces away, comes back and hits some further ball, it...

Thin, thick, middle - A feel-based aiming method

The method I use to aim almost all direct pots involves looking at the OB as a whole, focusing visually on the perceived OB/CB overlap, while sensing instinctually if the shot is too thin, too thick or neither. No conscious analysis or thought is necessary to find the correct shot line. It...

    Cue alignment???

Not an instructor, just speaking from my limited experience: If the cue steers off-line when you draw it back, this could be caused by multiple things, and a video would help diagnose it better One common reason is that your stance causes some part of your body (typically the side of the...

When Working on Your Fundamentals - Maximum Number of Key Thoughts You Can Work On at One Time

Agreed. To diagnose, practice or drill in any change in your fundamentals, doing long straight in shots is the best one. Mighty X drill, or if you aren't at that level yet where you can follow or draw into a pocket, just potting the long straight balls. If the thing that you are changing has...

    FargoRate #1000 and #10000

From the FargoRate top 100 in the world list, we can see that: #1 = 847 #10 = 831 #100 = 782 What would be the rating of the 1000th player? Or 10000th? Also, how many players would you estimate are out there that are in the top 100, 1000 or 10000 skill wise, but aren't in the FargoRate system...

    about two shots

For two-railers where I prioritize hitting the OB with the highest probability (such as your example), I use the midpoint parallel shift method, but with a thoughtful way of adjusting from it by feel. After doing the parallel shift and standing at the baseline from it, I do the following: (My...

Is a ‘firm’ grip and ‘short’ backswing okay?

(Not an instructor, just speaking from my own limited experience) You talk about a gap, I suggest experimenting with a grip that has a smaller or no gap, but is still loose. This is what worked best for me. That being said, many issues with a loose grip being inconsistent aren't directly from...

When Working on Your Fundamentals - Maximum Number of Key Thoughts You Can Work On at One Time

In my experience, more than one works fine as long as they don't occur during the same point in time. For example, anything before going down will not intercept with something that you do during the final stroke, so it doesn't hinder you to focus on two changes like that when they never overlap.

    The 100 Shots of Pool

    - Lag shot at the start of the match - Purposeful foul by pushing or pocketing opponents ball for safety purposes - Timing shot (e.g where you hit an OB very thin so it travels in front of a pocket, then come back off 1 rail to pot it) - When playing under a shot clock, shooting an easy stop...

Playing fast is so popular to viewers. Is it still possible to play consistent, fast high level pool?

At it's core, for most players it's a tradeoff between having more polished shot selections which leads to better position and easier shots, or having a more confident/relaxed execution which leads to higher success % on pots and leaves. I find it useful to seperate shot time into two parts...

Stepping into the shot - slow or fast?

There are many speeds at which different players step into the shot. As an example, Wiktor Zielinski would be a fast one, Fedor Gorst would be a pretty slow one. They both are clearly consistent in their alignment, so what causes the difference in speed? Do you find it beneficial to do it at a...

My aiming system is guessing....who use the Guessing System?

I just "know" where the OB will go to from any given CB/OB overlap, of course this instinct isn't perfect but learning to trust it and go with it develops it to be more accurate over time. It becomes like an ingrained part of your vision, instead of just seeing the CB/OB you see the outcome that...

    Bizarre situation / rules question

Wouldn't call it a foul myself. Seems stupidly pedantic since it doesn't disrupt the other balls in any way and can't be mistaken for an attempted shot.

MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

Why did you skip the first part of my post? If you know something the rest of us don't, please elaborate. I have no issues believing that the open bridge can be more beneficial, I use it myself for almost all shots, but I've heard many say they are more comfortable and play better with a closed...

MOSCONI CUP 2023 AZB Watch Party / Master Thread

No need to be scientific to have a point indeed but at least give some basic level explanation to have some merit in your idea. If what you say is true, there are reasons/explanations behind it. What are they? If you don't know, then that is a valid thing to say too. But not even mentioning...

    Rank of DigiBall Features

Agreed for 1 and 2, tip position and rifle pattern feels most useful for me too. (600-650ish fargo)

What do you think the best shotmakers have in common?

A few things: 1. When I said align, I meant the same thing as when you say aim. I just simplified the whole alignment/aiming part into a single word. So, to iterate with your terms, my point was that I don't see how sighting with one eye helps one aim more accurately than with two eyes. 2...
