Break Stats -- 2025 World Pool Championship (9-Ball), July 2025

Great job. Thanks. I like the way the event went. A 58% breaker won the game is about where I like it. A 24% break and run rate works, too, keeping the B&R special. One or more safeties played in 49% of the racks is also about where I like things, keeping the play diverse and entertaining...

Yes, well said. I think the World 9ball has had three eras: Pre-1990: not on a par with contemporary World 9ball, lacked sufficient international diversity 1990-2010: super tough to win, very nearly on a par with today's World 9ball 2011-present: the super-elite, internationally diverse event...

Was right in the mix at the Derby City 9ball, the Super Billiards Expo 9ball, the Dubai event and, of course, the World 9ball, but he came up short on all four occasions. Fedor hasn't closed the deal in the biggest spots this year. Agreed that he'll pick up something big sooner rather than...

Obviously. I was just saying that Earl has set the bar high for them.

Agreed that they don't matter much in GOAT discussions, but for BCA hall of fame worthiness, I feel that silvers and bronzes do matter. As far as the "major" majors (World 9ball, World 10ball, China Open, US Open, All Japan), have to wonder whether Strickland's count of eight (3 World 9ball, 5...

LOL, two golds and one silver at the World 9ball, a World 10ball, a US Open 9ball title and a Japan Open 10ball title. Carlo is a lock for induction and probably was a week ago.

Can't comment here. I am not aware of any of this.

Might well be, but I'd put Ga Young Kim at 6th best woman player of all time. I don't think Biado is as high in the men's all-time pecking order.

Gotta love Gorst and everything about his game, but 2025 has been a year in which he hasn't been able to get to the finish line. After a great Derby City Classic in January in which he won the one pocket, the bank pool and the Master of the Table, he remains without a title in either 9ball or...

It's all over and there's no question that the better man won. All the credit to Carlo Biado, now a holder of two WPA Sanctioned World Championships. This match was decided by the safety battles, which went heavily in Biado's favor.

Biado caroms in the 6ball off the 1ball, leading to a runout and he is on the hill 14-13.

Break and run and we are tied at 13-13. Not much pool left here!

Fedor misses jump on the 2ball badly but flukes a safe that decides the rack. Good time for that roll! Carlo 13 Fedor 12.

A master class carom off the 2ball to make the 9ball brings Gorst to within 13-11.

Geez, if Manas can learn to play safeties like those of Efren, Alex, and Biado, how good is he going to be?

Wow, Fedor appeared to have won the safety battle in Rack 22, when Biado pulled a rabbit out of his hat and jumped in the 2ball. He got funny on the 8ball, however, but came with a wonderful bank for a 13-9 lead. What a rack!

Agreed. Biado didn't have to make the 3ball that Fedor left after the jump kick safe. All the credit to Biado, but Fedor really played a great shot there.
