Played My First Really Good Player

Yeah I bet a lot of us had the same kind of experience at some point in time. I had got back into playing pool for about a year when I played in a Texas Express nineball event around 1989 or so in Va. I drew Dave Bollman the first round. Needless to say it was an eye opening experience.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

The reason behind the rules in APA 8 and 9 ball randomizes who can win a match. 9 ball no jump cues (have to jump with your playing cue) no push out point system (ball count) instead of game count. 8 ball No open table after a ball is pocketed on a legal break BIH in the kitchen if scratch on...

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

Possibly. My point in all of this is we don't know what is right for him, or Sean's team. All we can do is watch the matches ourselves and make our own conclusions. Of course the APA making the statement that "we don't think you cheated" speaks volumes to me. I was there in person, and...

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

I watched the a masters team from Colorado, their last player a 593 Fargo played an almost perfect match. He was up 2-1 in 8ball, when his opponent broke dry, and ran out the set in a race to 7. Granted, it was on the APA bar tables, and the person has a robustness of 274, but I don't think...

Is playing in a league really worth it?

I think you got some good advice from a number of posters. The thing to do is travel to venues on league nights and talk to the players so you can make an informed decision regarding what is best for you.

Is playing in a league really worth it?

VanBoening, and his whole family (mother, sister, grandfather) were big in BCA, if memory serves. The rest, I don't know. No, leagues are not needed. But it is a good way to experience competitive pool and develop without the risk of losing your rent money.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

The LO has that much control over their players skill levels? Is there an audit trail that can lead back to how the information is put into their system?

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

I believe that the area can be very tough is a possibility.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

I can only speak to the match I saw in the top 16. Yeah I saw of their opponents fold like lawn chairs. An 8 misses a straight in shot on the one ball about a diamond and a half from the corner, with an easy path to the two. He also scratched on the break twice in the first 3 racks, giving...

As I said before, watch their streamed matches, and decide for yourself.

APA Needs to STOP Re-Ranking Players During Touraments

You would think that would be the case, but a lot of the higher finishers in singles move up during the course of the tourney too. I know of one in particular that qualified as a 6 and got to the final "8" as an 8. He wasn't DQ'd. Had he been playing in a team event, I guess he would put the...

APA Needs to STOP Re-Ranking Players During Touraments

In my experience in two different states and league operators areas that is how it is done. There are sometimes differences of opinions in safeties especially when a two way shot is played and missed.

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

This statement is eyeopening. If they thought you weren't cheating, what was the basis for their ruling? (if it was covered before I missed it)

APA Needs to STOP Re-Ranking Players During Touraments

I had a 4 one year who played a 7 and beat him, without ever pocketing a ball. He did get to break though. Every game changing mistake that seven could do, he did. (Scratch on 8, early eight) My 4 went up to a 5, pointed out to the LO at the tourney that the scoresheet indicated how he won. He...

I have to ask, what is your take on how APA teams "earn it" for a trip to Vegas?
