    CTE Stepping Cue Ball.

it sounds complicated. maybe it's a simplistic comparison but i compare finding the center of the cue ball to the way a semi truck driver keeps his rig between the lines. mostly they look ahead and the rest is a learned reaction. he could try to align his rig with a sight line like maybe a...

    Sealing Slate Seams

i think it's likely the slate screws are actually just beneath the cushions and not where the ball can roll. you can measure distance in from edge to verify. I had a couple I didn't bother to fill, thinking they would land underneath the rail anyway.. later realized I can feel them with my...

Has anyone tried to "cast" a coupler?

my snooker cue is fine but I'd like a shorter butt. Its made offshore but seems of good enough quality.. I bought it used from a friend so I'm not sure who sold it. im the thrd owner.. If I remember right it says san yuen or something similar. My girlfriend bought a nice English made one...

Rubber on GC1 coming loose - Fix??

I think if you want to replace the rubber you might choose to ship the rails out to someone you feel you'd like to deal with. . You'd still need someone to put them back if you are not into working on the table yourself.. that seems to be what you want to do so that's your plan. if you pay...

Rubber on GC1 coming loose - Fix??

as rubber ages, the rubber gets harder, the durometer increases over time. when you do put new cushions on that arent so old you'll notice a huge difference.. if you want to fix it for now, yes unstaple the cloth , provided someone hasn't spray glued it on,, then you can remove the rubber...

Have you tried cues “Black Blade” “Liquid Weight” — cues that use a movable-weight system?

I still have a mercury filled plumb bob, maybe a vial of it would help a pool cue? probably not ! ;-)

What the pros do differently ...

great stuff I wasn't surprised I said something incorrectly as my point was to try to put my learning into words, i guess to help me digest it all.. partly to see where I was off.. Its a lot to take in , for sure. I was just watching a few Dr Dave explanations and he made it a bit more clear...

Have you tried cues “Black Blade” “Liquid Weight” — cues that use a movable-weight system?

I think I can get the effect if I simply forget to tighten my cue properly, the shaft hits, then the rest follows and basically a microsecond later , hits again. I never thought the effect would be desired. Snake oil maybe?

    Tooled It's George case

I wonder what the stamping process looked like.. I happen to have one of these, the early version, curved spokes.. Its wrapped up greased, and covered, Ive used them, I know how to set it up.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chandler_%26_Price its a printing press but these are versatile...

    Another lighting question please

Here's how I like to do it in my shop overhead lights and this could be a solution if the pot itself isn't necessary to take the weight. I add a duplex outlet and a round cover, like this ...

Current State of the Art Pool Table Lighting?

personal preferences, depends where the table is. I put mine in the living room so I don't want harsh LED bars. I like the look of the pretty standard pool light fixture but the LED bulbs can be seen when sitting and I'd like a diffuse or a way to block the lights when people are sitting and...

    Another lighting question please

I hung a pretty standard 3 light pool light, it should probably be 4 for a 9 foot table.. then I screw in LED bulbs. I had a couple that came with free pool tables , just sold one for 50 bucks.. gave away a 8 foot slate brunswick from 1970.. the strip lights are probably brighter if you...

What the pros do differently ...

hmm it can be confusing, here's the definition from that page and what I said,, I dont really see how its off, but I did add that "the ball travels in an arc".. I suppose because all spinning balls do that.. even though it may be less noticeable. I'm ok if you correct me if I'm wrong here...

Current State of the Art Pool Table Lighting?

having good lighting over the table but not too much in the surrounding seems to help with concentration.. It seems increasingly common that there is also a big screen TV and people tend to focus on any TV within sight, like if they stop watching it , they will miss something more important than...

What the pros do differently ...

yea easiest shot next is often the first thought pattern.. in snooker if you cna;t make a color and sink a red and stop it's likely as much of a detriment as the 1 point is towards a win.. If that ball stays on the table then it might make 7 more for me.. or them.. or I might use it to hook...

    Bridge Hand Aiming

if someone is really green , id just show them the most common way to bridge and let it go, suggest watching others , trying different things , see what works for them. there's too much to worry about otherwise.. one I was shown and find handy is two fingers out, the other two back making a 4...

Current State of the Art Pool Table Lighting?

I've seen many beautiful examples of pool table lamps. It seems like either decorating has gone out of style or maybe we cant' afford nice things? why are new "styles" so void of , any STYLE ? just one tiny example,, but of course there are any beautiful ones to choose from. I don't wish...

Why different shaft diameters for different games?

if its common for people to use a smaller tip like 10-11 mm on chinese 8 ball with 2 1/4" balls, will they shape the tip like a nickle like one may to play pool on the same sized balls or would they go to a dime radius like in snooker? I guess one could do similar math and see a relationship...
