    Non-Gambling Pool Players

I don't play for money. Used to play some cheap sets and ring games with friends. Never enjoyed the money aspect of it. I know that makes me a nit, loser, etc. in the eyes of 'real' pool players. Maybe it's my logic combined with my empathy. Logic because I believe that very few gamblers of...

    Where to place my table?

Get an engineer involved. Often a full beam replacement is not necessary, you can put steel on both sides of the wood and bolt through, creating a steel clad wood beam. Most residential architects and residential engineers won't think of doing it that way, but it is a valid option that can...

    Cat logo? Wolf? Coyote?

Great. Now I have to clean up the tea I spewed from laughing. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

    Tight United Joint

Probably originally caused by someone putting wax, soap, lard, nose oil, etc. in the joint. If you put wax in the joint, you have almost no way of ensuring there aren't globs somewhere in the threads. Wax will hold dirt and grime if it is too thick. If you want to wax a joint, lightly wax...

    8 ball handicap system

Fair is no handicap. That is fair. Hobbling a guy is not fair, never has been, never will be.

    8 ball handicap system

That is the literal worst handicap idea ever. The stronger player will drop the balls that would be a problem for him, giving him a bigger advantage. It's a horrible movie, but this is covered in pool hall junkies.

    Funny pic/gif thread...

Did anybody not know that? It is also the name of the metal band between the bristles of a brush and the handle, the metal band on either end of a decent chisel, the crimped-on ends for wires, etc.. Technically even the aglets on your shoe strings are ferrules.

    Please identify

My guess is based on having a decent amount of veneer that is very similar to that. It's what I used for the door panels for my old truck, and for a laminated cue case. Great requests for more info. I'm going to make a SWAG that we are looking at a humidor top.

CF-Wood combo butts w. carbon fiber and wood either on inside or outside: Konllen & Healing

Useful? What is it supposed to do? The weight of a heavy cue, but the impact energy of a light cue? Worst of both worlds. This isn't a unique idea, it's just that most of the people (myself included) who have tried it abandoned it because it was a bad idea.

Moving weight system, which they refer to as an, 'aggravating system'. Sounds about right.

Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

You were not insulted originally by anyone. People disagree with you. You then called me a dipshit when I asked for studies and evidence. Ignoring people and ideas is a great strategy for remaining ignorant.

Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

Just in case anyone dredges this thread up again in four or five years and puts any weight into the @Ascue claim that he is one in 100000, they should read his other post about his 'full splice' jump break cue: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/full-splice-lost-art.571646/

How long does POOR play keep you down?

In my 20's it would eat on me for ages. I quit for a while and took up competitive foosball and figured out how bad I sucked at that...even my great play was piss-poor compared to the worst day for the second worst player in any tourney I entered (I was always the worst by far). So, I learned...

Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

That is amazing. It is especially amazing considering that you don't understand cue construction. Read up on the Dunning-Kruger effect.

Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

A Scruggs merry widow has not been 500-750 for a decade. Ten years ago you were paying almost 5 for a Frey sneaky.

    Brunswick Centennial

Wtf are you on about? Were the wire strippers from Japan or China? They aren't the same. A lot of Klein tools are made overseas and have been for a long time. They are interchangeable from the ones made in the US. Sad or not. The melamine thing was still being sold by USA and European...
