    What would you do? (9-ball)

I would load it up with left and try to get it close to center diamond on the head rail, not go to the long rail, so it would only be a 2 rail shot. Bonus if you can hook him behind the 9. I would have to leave distance. I’m terrible at short distance finesse safety play.

    What would you do? (9-ball)

left center off the of the left side of the 7 taking the cue back up table and hopefully freezing it on the top rail, depending on how fast the table plays.

Pool is becoming a rich man's sport

Since when does playing pool mean having to emulate the top .01% of players or the road warriors? Even in the cheapo days, top top level guys barely made more than the medium average American salary. Why do you think backers were needed in the first place. Fewer rooms and more $ just to keep...

Memorable threads here on AZ Billiards?

The threads were truly binge worthy. Runner up would be the RKC vs Mark Gregory battles, where both guys clearly know their S***.

Does anyone know the coefficient of friction between cue ball and tip?

Moori? Elkmaster? Triangle? Is it glazed over? Which chalk? How much chalk? How well did you chalk it? What’s the humidity in the room? Which brand ball? Polished or rubbed down with rubbing alcohol? I love nerding out on stuff like this. The question has tons of variables that may or may...

    Archer's Place, Marietta Ga...??

Thank you for that. On Friday I drove the hour to CBC and shot for a few hours. At 4:30 it was already pretty packed with regulars. The GCIV I’ve been shooting on for 10 years still looks perfect. It looks like the cloth was changed last week, but then again it always looks that way. It’s...

I was talking about the original MBC that was a few blocks from the big chicken.

On the flip side, Chattanooga Billiards Club(s) are really nice joints that have been in business for a long time. I believe Varner has or had a role in it

    Archer's Place, Marietta Ga...??

A thief can take on any form and I try to not judge, but the bar staff there certainly fit the prototypical profile.

    Archer's Place, Marietta Ga...??

When it was first built, I was shooting on the 9’er. He came over, greeted me warmly and asked how I liked it. Never having met a pro before, it really made an impression. I didn’t really see him much after that.

    Archer's Place, Marietta Ga...??

MBC had the makings to be THE room of GA, and probably a must visit for road players. I came to GA in 2009 to do my residency training. Even being dog tired from having 4 days off a month, I’d drive over an hour each way for ‘church.’ It was in a strip mall and the place was the size of a...

is the ten ball break more broken than the nine ball break?

Alternate break in 1 pocket. Yes, necessary and it’s tradition. Alternate break in rotation games is horrible.

is the ten ball break more broken than the nine ball break?

I can go for that. I don’t hate the jump cue and a well executed shot it is a thing of beauty. I feel like it is overused

is the ten ball break more broken than the nine ball break?

There is nothing wrong with the rack. If you get a tight and consistent rack with truly random ball placement in 8/9/10/whatever, then there is nothing wrong with the break. I wish people would just leave it alone. Being able to string racks together is GOOD FOR POOL!! It’s one of the only...

Article: Mooresville, NC APA Team 3rd in World 9-Ball Competition

Got that right. I grew up in Raleigh in the 90s. Off the top of my head I can think of 7 good rooms in a 15 mile radius. Greensboro, Charlotte, Hickory, Concord, Winston… pretty much every city and small town has at least 1 room with big tables.

Hill-hill matches with the pros should have

Respectfully disagree. When the pressure is on, the lion roars and all scatter. Rarely will the TRUE champion falter under such circumstances and if he does, than that's just too damn bad.
