    Another balance point question?

i have also run some independent testing of my own and people seem to be able to tell when there is 1oz or more added directly to the butt end of a cue. on cues with basically the same balance points guys have been able to immediately tell which cue is all natural weight and which cue has...

    Isn't a metal bolt inside a forearm a wedge?

i'm sure Gus would have used West systems had it been around, but yes hide glue is actually better than people think.i would use it over the poly glues.

    Refinishing the butt...

great advice here, though i use 800 grit instead of 600.i was turned on to this method by a friend and it really has been much easier since i started doing it.

automotive clear coat is the best i have tried.after you paint it,wet sand, then buff, then polish.

    Looking for Brazilain rosewood

thanks and we have a deal,if i win you got a piece coming your way. i think you are right on the reasonable pricing.good Brazilian really shouldn't cost an arm and a leg.i think $100 bd/ft is fair for the seller unless it is something spectacular.i have on occasion found very good Brazilain at...

    My Cochran

i really like those inlays.i am not generally a fan of inlays, but those are very tasteful and original looking, which in itself is rare in cues these days.

    Looking for Brazilain rosewood

not sure about this.it really isn't a heavy wood.i think with maple in the front it would be perfect balance/weight full splice wood.i am however guessing and have never built one or even a full splice period for that matter.

    Isn't a metal bolt inside a forearm a wedge?

i think a 4" metal 3/8 stud is stronger than a larger wood stud, but that is just me.

    Looking for Brazilain rosewood

i was reading the thread again and realized that i may have come off as an a**hole to 9ballbreak in my post. i apologize to you,i was just getting excited about winning a nice big fat piece of brazilian and didn't want anyone to know about it until i made some nice fat brazilian cues with it.

    Looking for Brazilain rosewood

i really wish you hadn't posted this in the cue maker section since i am the high bidder right now and it's getting close.if i get it i will sell you a piece, but now that it is listed here at AZ,there is no way it will go for anything resembling a reasonable price.

    feel the vibration

i tend to get the opposite results.i usualy cut my butts in just over a minute with the 6 flute bit and have zero chatter.sometimes when i am cutting a cue with koa handle or Quilted maple handle i have to slow it down to 5-6in/min to avoid tear out and i will start to get a little chatter...
