This is why we can't have nice things

Trouble is, some LOs weight those 2 nights FAR higher than the other nights where you were off (bad day maybe). These very same POS LOs never look at consistency. So what if you just beat a SL7, they may have tanked trying to get YOUR hcp up. And once these same POS LOs RAISE your hcp to a given...

    Cuetec Cynergy ferrule

Thanks guys for getting back so quickly. Mine doesn’t need replacing yet, just wanted to be prepared if or when it does get damaged. My main concern is what type of tenon the ferrule attached too. Thanks again.

    Cuetec Cynergy ferrule

I’m curious if anyone has replaced the Cynergy ferrule for a customer. If so, where did you get the new ferrule and how much trouble was it to remove and install. Thanks for any help you can provide.

    why tip expand upon application?

From my experience, you should press an Elkmaster tip first. I usually press for a couple of days. I have also found that moistening the tip before trimming to size also helps. Best of luck. I just use a Triangle tip and still get the feel and sound of a soft tip.

    Fair price for tip replacement?

Looks like other installers have had this problem. Since I’ve had new tips directly from a distributor delaminate on install, I can see why you would be suspicious of player supplied tips. Too many counterfeits? I’ve had my share of those too.

Shaft that wobbles on lathe when set up for cleaning

Looks like the problem was with drilling and tapping of the joint. Hope to get this resolved quickly. Thanks.

Shaft that wobbles on lathe when set up for cleaning

Thanks to any or all who may have an answer for me. I recently bought a Cynergy shaft (3/8x14 pin) and used a new driver pin on my lathe for set up and cleaning. I know, many of you are saying why bother to put this shaft on a lathe, but I’ve done that for years with all my cues. However, the...

    Whining about apa

As an 18 year member of APA, I think I have seen it all. It appears that the bulk of *****ing and moaning is because of how SLs are set. I know some LO want to raise as many players as possible to get more teams, but usually, people just drop out of APA. Here’s an idea for setting SLs. Don’t...

    why so many kicks/skids?

I’m sure that happens, but the OB has travelled well past the OB and cue ball contact point when it happens to me. Since I use mainly top or bottom english, the combination of spin on the OB imparted by the cue ball and dirty OBs and chalk on the cloth could be the cause. In 30 years of playing...

    why so many kicks/skids?

What I stated has happened several times. It may be a combination of dirty OBs and chalk on the cloth. The tables I play on get new cloth once a year and are never cleaned. Once the OB hits that spot with chalk, whether a straight shot or cut, it has a tendency to to slow down, skid whatever you...

APA Needs to STOP Re-Ranking Players During Touraments

I have a question about the “local” system. You say my last 20 games are the basis. I played so badly after being raised to a SL 7 that I was dropped back to a 6. However, after JUST 3 matches against SL 5s, I was raised back to a 7. I beat a 6 and a 4, but also lost to a 6 and a 4. I never got...

    why so many kicks/skids?

I’ve found that the object ball seems to “skid” more closer to the rails. I’ve seen an object ball almost stop (I could plainly see the number on the ball) before continuing on it’s way. I couldn’t figure out why until I saw an idiot chalk grinder chalk his cue over the f*-$#*g table! OB hits...

APA screwed our very own sleinen out of a national championship

My SL was raised from 4 to 5 AFTER MY FIRST MATCH in 2001 while at the APA championship. I played a 5 and it took 16 innings to win. No way this guy was a SL 5 in my league back home. We went hill/hill; either one of us could have won.

    Denatured Alcohol on Pool Shafts?

What he said. From experience, once you apply Renaissance wax, you must buff pretty quickly.

best Tip for my predator 314 shaft

Be careful here. It’s my understanding that the hardness of a mfg tips is relative to the other tips. For instance, one mfg super soft tip is the softest tip they have; this super soft tip may be harder than the soft tip from another mfg. Keep in mind, the tip will harden over time, as stated...

Played a set of bar box 8 ball against Sky Woodward

You’re spot on about a pro’s consistency. I heard this years ago - an amateur practices till they finally get it right; a pro practices till they never get it wrong. Great post!

    Navigator Durometer Hardness Chart

The SX is 67 on durometer testing? The one I installed was harder than Chinese arithmetic. Using a new Lenox titanium blade, shaping the tip on my lathe made the sound of a brick scraping on concrete. The leather did NOT ribbon but powdered!! Worst $25 I’ve ever spent.

    Destroyed Cuetec Cynergy

Since your Cynergy probably came with a Sniper tip, he could have left the red pad on and installed the new tip on the same pad. I’ve done this several times on mine as I wanted to try super soft, soft and medium tips on the Cynergy cue. If properly installed, the new tip would be good to go...

    Cue shop for sale

Michael, I guess I have read all your posts over the last 2 years. You’re last post confirms what I’ve thought all along; you are the kind of person I would be privileged to meet and call a friend. Hoping our paths cross someday.
