This thread could go on, and on, as long as John is awake and there's someone to spar with. The truth seems to be, however, that if an aiming system (any aiming system) was worth it's salt we'd all be using one. Certainly all the professional players would be. How could they afford not to? And...

You're joking, right? Horse racing is the sport of Kings. Auto racing has always been a sport. Pool, on the other hand, is a game.

It most certainly is a sport. During the years 1966 thru 1967, me and my buddies kept a board on the wall of our apartment with our names on it. Whenever one of us made a conquest (if you know what I mean) we would put up a star by that persons name. At the end of '67 I was declared the winner...

After taking another stance against the benefits of learning a system. and then being promptly rebuffed, I have come to the conclusion that a member will leave here because their head hurts. Usually, after being gone for awhile, the headache eases and the member comes back, eager to participate...

Let me put it another way. Learning a system, whether it be self-taught, or from an instructor, is like wearing arch supports. It'll feel good for awhile, but over time it'll make a cripple out of you. :)

There's been lot's of answers to the OP's question, and good ones too. But we've yet to arrive at a consensus. Which reply describes THE greatest moment in sports? P.S. I always thought the intro to the Wide World of Sports program was pretty salty. The one where the ski jumper gets off course...

What you say is true, there's no doubt about it. I might add that all the instructors who teach an aiming system certainly have a vested interest. Teaching a system is like Chiropractic medicine. It keeps 'em coming back. :smile:

Not near as bad as the time I was playing One Pocket and my opponent accused me of hitting whitey twice. His buddy happened to be filming the whole affair in 16 millimeter color so we had a record of the alleged event. The problem, of course, was that we had to wait for it to be processed...

My first thought would be a separate plate between the chuck and the face plate. Of course, you would have to fashion an index pin, and mount. Give Chris Hightower a ring. He owns Cue Man Billiard Products. I know he has done some lathe conversions. :)
