    Great stroke

Hollywood Billiards, Jay Swanson event, early round. I hardly made any mistakes ... and still lost.

    Great stroke

Great stroking? A lot of great replies (and some not so great). The best one, IMO, was the first. I don't blame him for initially being short and to the point because a lot of factors are involved. I've read several posts from Masayosi, and even played him once. Listen to him. This man has...

How rare is it to be able to do this?

I understand Jimmy Caras did this shot in his exhibitions using only the thumb and fore-finger of his shooting hand. This was to show you don't need a death grip to have a clean draw.

    Farmington biliiards?

In Durango, this is about as exciting as it gets. If this room doesn't do it for you, then you're in for a rough time. That whole 4 corners area is pretty much a dead zone for pool. The San Luis Valley (southern Colorado) isn't much better. If you happen to go back to Pongas, ask for Nick. He...

    Pongas Durango Co.?

I think it would be worthwhile. Mostly because there aren't many other choices out that way. They have tournaments and more than a few pool fans. Didn't see any champions the last time I was there.

    Farmington biliiards?

Durango CO The name of the pool room in downtown Durango is Colorado Pongas. Fairly nice room with several pool enthusiasts hanging out.

    Golden 8ball - Phoenix

Yes, it was a nice, large room on Indian School Road. I wish it was still around.

    College Billiards In San Diego

There are a couple of fellas named Dan at On Cue that play sporty 14.1. If you played one of them, you had your hands full. Hydrid is a wonderful gal. It's good to hear she's stil active playing pool.

    College Billiards In San Diego

From Coronado the closest room is over the bridge at Joltin' Joe's - Downtown San Diego, near the Convention Center. There's a place in Coronado that has 2 raggety bar tables called the Little Bar, near the ferry landing. Neither place is considered a "players room". Best bet for good equipment...

Hardtimes, Swannee, Chris and Greg controversy

Unethical for Chris to accept the win??? IMO, no ... I could see myself getting tripped up on what to do in a similar situation. The TD doesn't allow my opponents' earlier win, but I say to mark it up anyway and take the loss? Maybe I would but it's a tough call, even for an old worn out pool...

    Unethical Win at Swanee 2014

From what I understand, Chris' mother didn't know Greg had won the game. In her text to Chris she asked, "Did you lose the match?", meaning she wasn't sure. Chris wasnt either.

    Unethical Win at Swanee 2014

I'm going to guess that Chris would've been willing to forfeit the game but his advisors, and quite possible Greg, had told him to accept the victory. I'll probably see Chris today and I'll find out for sure. Is anyone really interested in his answer, or should I let this debate run a while...

    Swanee Tournament at Hard Times

Whoa! I did a little fact finding on this matter. I still don't have the whole story, I'm sure. From what I'm told, Chris didn't know the score was wrong. His mon texted him and asked if he already lost. With that, he went to his trusted buddy, Jerry Matchin and asked about this. Jerry asked...

Big dogs missing at hard times

Pissin' with the big dogs ... Even though those big dogs are missing, there are plenty of others to keep this event interesting.

2 Girls, a Mustang, and the Road

Sometimes, the best thing to do, is nothing If you're not feeling it, by all means, give it a rest. No sense in trying to play through it. Do something different and get recharged. The game will still be there when you're ready.

Is Getting On A Good Break Ball in 14.1

Hmmm, interesting. I'm thinking most runs are stopped from bad pattern play or loss of control, instead of poor break ball positioning. But then, what do I know? I have a hard time running six balls, even when half of them are hangers.

The tourney I was running just died...(rant)

This whole situation is brutal beyond compare. Kingman once had a thriving bar league and plenty of players. Being a pool player in town now must be a total bummer. Is there an Elk's or Moose Lodge with tables? Heck, if that's not happening you might have to check on the local Boy's and Girl's...

    Thank you to Dave Whitsell

That's quite an endorsement for Dave. I never had him make me a cue but I did meet him many yerars ago when I put up a Morris cue on consignment. I know many San Diegans use his services. I also know he's a pool nut like the rest of us. I just might have to see if he's interested in making my...
