Pros today vs the pros yesterday

I don't know about this. Regardless of mechanics, IMO Mosconi was one of the most naturally talented athletes ever. I had the good fortune to see him play twice in person, and when he was in rhythm his pool game was poetry. Sure, the game was different, but he dominated 14.1 for many years. -dj

    RC3 veneer question

Veneers on this cue are white/black/white/black. Chudy was known for his one-sided veneers, which is his basic cue design. I don't think he ever did a cue with 4 wood veneers on each side, most of his fancier cues have beautiful designs in the points, or a single silver veneer, but not the...

    Ordered My New Tascarella!

Thanks, Dave, that cue is ebony into birdseye. It is 7 years old now and pretty beat up. Once Pete delivers the new cue, I will send the old one back for refinish. New cue will have the same specs, so they should be very similar- -dj

    Ordered My New Tascarella!

I have been talking to Pete Jr. over the last few weeks and I picked out one of his finished full-splice blanks. It will be a simple hoppe player, no inlays except for some small diamonds at the lower splice points. It has an ebony handle into a rosewood forearm. Now, I just have to wait a...

    Predator Aerorack

That rack is too thick for 14.1, I bought one of the $20 thinner racks, and it works perfectly for straight pool- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005GVJQGM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 -dj

    Championship Vs. Simonis

I had the Championship 30/30 installed last September, and it was really slidey for a couple of months. Was normal after that. I have the same experience, the 30/30 cloth is faster and does wear better than the Simonis 860 which came on the table when shipped. -dj

When playing/practicing with a lower skilled player - Do you change your strategy?

In competition, I never do. Anyone can win a game of 8 ball, much too easy to lose if you don't play your best game always. In practice, sure, it's fun to mess around. -dj
