    Isoplast color....

If you want the whitest material possible, that's Elforyn. Tomahawk is white too, quite similar to Juma in colour but lighter and stronger.

    Isoplast color....

There's several versions of Hydex. I initially bought Hydex to do repairs on SS360 and Jacoby Edge shafts (and others..) and when I look at the round stock of both side by side they are different in colour and Isoplast also gets a gloss finish easier. There's enough difference that I doubt it's...

    Isoplast color....

I think Hydex has more nylon in it? I get my Isoplast from a German supplier and That's super light and white like Elforyn, while the Hydex is from a US supplier and has a more yellow tint and has the Hydex 202 writing on the side. But you know a lot more about thermoset plastics, so I trust...

    Isoplast color....

If you have a big threaded tennon and shine a bright light at the installed ferrule, you can sometimes see the threads. Hydex is not as solid in colour as Isoplast. If you're doing a slip fit ferrule or a inverted ferrule for a CF shaft, it won't be an issue at all. Hydex has a ever so slight...

    Cue Building Cost to Start?

Thinking you can turn a profit after a year is a huge mistake. If you have a huge stash of seasoned wood, you're allready a skilled machinists and you have at least 600 square feet of space and 30K deep pockets, you might get up to speed faster, but it's going to take a long time to pay back...

Fedor Gorst and the Viking Sponsorship

As a cue maker and Viking, Tiger and Mezz dealer I think some of the comments in this thread are missing the mark. Firstly I think it's awesome that Fedor is sponsored by an American company wich actually makes their product in USA, not overseas. Secondly a comparable Viking cue is easily 20-25...

    P3 bumper?

Looks like some sort of countersunk 1" bumper for an extension. I don't recognise the brand from the blurry picture, but my guess is that the original M16x1.5 threads might have been changed.

What diameter is the outer female thread of a 5/16x14 joint?

For the 7/16-20 inserts the minor is .390" and .376" for the 7/16-14 variant. I'm not familiar with the insert in the picture. I use the ones that looks like the Uni-Loc insert, so measure twice..

Which is considered the expensive or tough build?

The second build is more work intensive, so it's gonna cost more.

Changing a pin on a vintage butt, too risky or easy?

I don't see why your cue maker says it's too risky. Changing the joint pin is always something to be avoided if it's not strictly necessary, but at the same time if you know what you're doing the odds are definitely in your favour. As always pictures of the cue in question helps a lot.

    Long Live Center?

I use the one in the picture on my Sherline shaft spinner, but it's tapered as you say. I think both Chris and Todd has a long nose straight shank live center

    Break shaft 2

Too many factors that can play a part to give a clear answer to that question. What I observe is that most players have a lot to gain from just working more on the mechanics of their break, than what material the break shaft is. After the mechanics, I would say the tip type and tip shape is key...

    Snakewood cracks ?

Best used for inlays, points and possibly a buttsleeve imo.

    Replacing Threaded Ferrule Question

There's many different tennon designs, so if the tennon is in good shape, I generally try to work with what's there, that often involves chasing the threads that's allready there. Sometimes I have to replace the tennon, that gives me more options and unless the customer is super picky about a...

How do you find a good Elkmaster? Also does pressing them solve the issue (no milkdud process)

Other than inspecting the tips, sorting them by weight, there's really no surefire way to sort the good tips from the bad ones, which brings me to the point of what players are looking for more than anything else: Consistency. So no matter how much you like a good Elkmaster, if you can't...

    KO brothers pool cue tips.

Nope, they are different. Ko tips are actually very nice, I've installed a lot of them. HOW tips have delamination issues and the feedback from customers isn't great. When installing the tips, you can tell they are not the same tip.

your paying too much for cues

Once you go past a certain price point, about $400 with a maple shaft and $800-900 with a quality carbon fibre shaft, you pay for the work, materials and complexity of the design. A basic Viking or Joss is just shy of $400 and these cues plays great and are well made. If you pay a bit more...
