Are LD Shafts Needed On A 7' Table

I bet he had a cooperative broomstick, one which could at least make stop shots! But you cant tell me the same guy doesn't play way better with a decent cue. Now on a 9 footer, no way in hell....especially for 9 ball. A phenol tip would be tough, but an upgrade..... way different story from...

Are LD Shafts Needed On A 7' Table

I hear you San Jose, learning the game is far more important. But a skinny piece of wood? C'mon now. Every pro in the world cares about his equipment, and I bet you do too. Unless they're playing a blind man, nobody plays for money using a broomstick.

Are LD Shafts Needed On A 7' Table

Resistance is to be expected. People said the same thing when better golf clubs arrived, aluminum baseball bats came out, graphite tennis racquets too. Go back far enough and they probably said the same thing about forged steel being used for used for swords and armor too. As for 7 foot vs. 9...

What is the cheapest pool credential?

That's not a bad way of lookin at it, its reasonable. (Though personally, I wouldn't schedule one hour lessons for a lot of reasons......especially for $30/hour.) Maybe a better way of looking things in $30/hour perspective: -First 30 or so hours of your time goes to the investment: 30 hours X...

What is the cheapest pool credential?

It really isn't that bad. Yes its expensive, but its all in how you look at it. With a little luck, the course will pay for itself within the first year.

    Yipes.......Another Rotator Cuff Surgery

I've had 4 knee surgeries and many other injuries too. No shoulders but I do understand they are delicate. Best I can say is, seek out the best therapist you can find......don't settle for less. Make sure they're experienced, no youngins. Fancy equipment and machines are nice, but experience...

    Tips for improving draw

In case it has not been said, this can be an eye opener for some: Realize its only the top portion of the tip that makes contact with the ball. Crunch your bridge hand low to the table, and use the top of your tip. (And start with an easy shot, cue ball and object ball 6 inches apart.)

Intentional hit on 9 ball with no attempt to touch cue ball

This thread reminds me of an old friend of mine, Rocco. Father time had caught up with Rocco, who was so worn down he had to turn to his bench for every shot. "Shoot the 3 ball, someone said to Rocco!" Rocco proceeded to cue up to the 3 ball, directly.....and shot it directly into the nearest...

Intentional hit on 9 ball with no attempt to touch cue ball

You dont like the easy combo, you gotta bust it up somehow.... or tie up some lower numbered balls. I like what someone said early, about treating this like an object ball foul. If the specific rule set didn't say otherwise, I like that answer best. I know the poster speaks and writes better...

Can you use follow on a jump shot?

I have always thought of this as the entire vertical axis shifting upwards. Great thread here, thanks you guys.

Instructors or those in the know

Nobody here saw Princess Bride? Good one Mike, tough crowd I tell ya! What you said reminded me of something I have said to a few people I have worked with. If their stroke is bad enough they look like they're digging a ditch with a shovel. So I tell em, a cue is more of a sword than a...

    Low Deflection Shafts?

Aside from the obvious mass change, I have no idea about the why on the jump shots. Its almost as if I want deflection on a jump shot, just not side to side. But then I guess, that's not deflection. Frontal deflection? No such thing. On the aiming change, I can get more deflection using a...

    Low Deflection Shafts?

You actually listed expensive as a disadvantage? C'mon now Dave. Also not fair to mention shaft diameter as an L/D disadvantage. Harder to masse? I suppose its "harder" but its not as if you cant masse with an L/D. Harder to jump, for sure. But is that really a disadvantage when we have break...

    Low Deflection Shafts?

Everybody knocks them, yet none offer good reason as to why. The only argument that makes any sense at all, is the feel factor. And I have to agree. As much as I like my z-2 predator, the feel is shitty as compared to maple. But I care more about results than feel. The sound is also a little...

    Low Deflection Shafts?

They work, and even people who hate L/D would have to admit that. As for which works "the best" is tough to say. Predator and OB would probably be the top sellers, though all those mentioned would be viable options. IMHO, there isn't much of a feel loss with an OB, though I still prefer predator.

Monster Handicaps for Kids Learning the Game

Give em what I call the "special rotation." They shoot any ball in any order, you don't. If that's not enough, you also play 1 handed. Still not enough, lefty and 1 handed. My kid actually had me down to lefty, 1 handed, and no touching a rail for me. Dam that kid!
