A finish that is grippy / sticky

Try a rubber sleeve. Under $5 and not permanent if you don't. Usually used in wrap area. I see a lot on carom cues. Should be easy to find.

what are the biggest spots you've seen/heard of given?

Back in the early 70's I watched Tacoma Whitey give up 8 to close in one pocket. A chalk circle was drawn outside the pocket. If his opponent either pocketed one ball or had it land inside that circle he won. Not sure who won in the long run as I was busy watching my buddy take beating on...

    Linen wrap spool holder

David Paul Kersenbrock worked with Jerry Franklin leading to Southwest cues. In 1990 he sold a cue building manual on shop design. Not many were sold. The one I got was a rough sketch. Supposed to get an updated finished version later. Never happened. I just googled wrapping a fishing rod. There...

    Linen wrap spool holder

Probably not painting the picture clearly. The idea is to have the linen feed through a central spot. I just refered to the Kersenbrock manual and it is complicated. He does keep tension on the linen and has a guide to wrap. Hope I helped, but most likely just confused you! Good luck.

    Linen wrap spool holder

Maybe an eyelet centered on the spool and 8 inches away from jig would keep linen from running off the spool. It would be attached to the jig

Wanted: Roger Pettit -sneaky w/ delrin buttcap

I appreciate your kind words and all the effort you put into writing them. Your first post looking for a cue came on my second day of posting on az. The buttcap on your barcue was Ivorine 3 not delrin. Just wanted to let you know you may never find one with delrin! I may show up someday at...

What is your Favorite Tip flavor at the moment

I install medium ultraskin on all the cues I build. My customers love them. I like the consistency of the way they machine. Best tip for the money. Roger

    Questions regarding ivory and travel.

About 15 years ago one of my customers had a cue covered in Ivory imported from the Phillipines. The cuemaker blacked out the butt with liquid shoe polish. No way to identify the Ivory. Rubbing alcohol took every bit of the shoe polish off.

Wanted: Roger Pettit -sneaky w/ delrin buttcap

I have not been making many cues due to health issues. Rod has orders in that I have not been able to complete. We'll see what the future brings. I may be struck by lightening and come back to life. Take care. Roger

You are correct. Belltown was the second incarnation of the 211 Club. The first location was 211 Union. Building was torn down to build Benaroya Hall.

    Palmwood

I have built cues with red palm grip and black palm forearm and back end. Looks good and plays good. Roger

Billy Webb a.k.a Spiderweb has passed away.

Back in the early 80s Bill and I were playing a $100 race. He put so much pressure on me that my nose started bleeding. I was playing with a Balabushka purchased used for $125. I got blood all over the Cortland wrap. Bill took my money and we became friends. A few years later we tried to build...

Wanted: Roger Pettit -sneaky w/ delrin buttcap

I don't believe I ever made one with a delrin buttcap. If I did it would have been in the early 80's.
