    Green and white Cortland wrap

This is some stuff I picked up when Dufferin went out of business. I don't know if it is Courtland or Penn but it is one of them. White with black.

    Cutting Tips Off Cues

Thanks for the help. I will try a couple of the suggestions. It is not me that wants to put a used tip back on, it is the customer. It may be that I just put a new moori on a couple weeks ago and they don't want to pay for another. I always charge to put tips on, even if it is a used one.

    Cutting Tips Off Cues

I know that this sounds like a simple procedure but I just wonder if there is a better way to do it. Occasionally I will have someone come in and ask for a new ferrule but want to put the same tip on that was on the old ferrule. Assuming the tip will fit the new ferrule, I have always just cut...

    shaft question

Wouldn't replacing the maple tenon reduce the effectiveness of the shaft by adding weight that you had just removed??

    shaft question

Of course you can. Predator has a patent on their shaft so that would be the only thing to worry about. Predator drills a two step hole. The bottom 3" is 1/4" and the top 2" inches is 5/16. The foam is just at the top 1/4" and appears to be to keep any dirt out of the hole while working on...

I found a new glue for tips - any one tried this ?

Loctite Ultra Gel for about 2 years now. I used the Loctite Gel before that. I tried the 454 a long time ago and it worked fine but as others have said, I couldn't use it fast enough. A bottle of the Ultra Gel lasts about a month so it is always fresh.

    Cuetec insert

It was a pretty tight go, tapping it into the 19/64 pin. I was only able to get a turn or two and then removed the tap and cleaned out the hole. I would be afraid that if I went any smaller something would give. I had a couple cuemakers suggest that getting the tap size down to .360 would...

    Cuetec insert

Had a Cuetec cue come in with the insert destroyed. I drilled it out and replaced it with phenolic. Cut a 5/16 hole and tapped with a 3/8x14 tap. It was really loose. Tried a 19/64 hole and it was better but still loose. What is the tap that I should be using for Cuetec.

    Straightening a cue advice needed

Is it a 2 piece cue?? What happens if you roll the butt and shaft separately?? If they are staight it may be the joint that needs facing. If its a one piece cue follow the previous posters advice.

What type of cues or these, billiard or snooker

Do you have a way of measuring the ferrule or place a ruler beside it for reference. To me they look larger than a normal snooker cue.

    Shaft Turning (Mis)-Technique

KJ thanks for the translation from Canadian to US. I knew what I meant but others probably didn't.:)

    Shaft Turning (Mis)-Technique

It might be that you are tightening it up a little too much in the lathe and as the wood is cut off the blank gets thinner and may bend in the centre.

    uncored african blackwood or ebony

I use a lot of Macassar Ebony in my cues and usually use it uncored. I can get a natural weight of about 18.5 oz and I really like the way it hits.
