    Happy Birthday Scottster!

Happy Birthday, Scott! And thanks again for all your work in making the Side Pockets Blue Springs straight pool league's inaugural season a success. It was a pleasure to play and will only get better. Steve

    Table Lighting

I built the light shown in my avatar pic for less than $300. It has two tandem 8-foot flourescent fixtures in it (total of 8 4-foot bulbs). Lights the table really well. Here's a pic with it lit.

Squirrel Attack (But league is important)

Great story! Thanks for the chuckle. I had a racoon in the attic for a while, but the little bugger never managed to break my leg. That's one mean squirrel.

    Tootin' my horn

I'd like to see it here. Nice run, Danny. Now if you'd just give a live running commentary while you're making a run during Monday night league, that would be even better.;) Steve

    2007 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

Thank YOU, Danny! Danny - I wholeheartedly agree. I truly enjoy our league. We have a good group of people. And what a pleasure it is for me to play a game I love with a world-class player like you. Regards, Steve

    basic rules/score keeping

you're not crazy Sounds like you've got the rules right. I'm still of the opinion that racks always total 14 (or 15 if you count the one on the table). Probably because I played the game on Brunswicks with the scoring wheels. Two for each player -- one for the rack score and one for the...

    2007 AZ Straight Pool Challenge!

I guess I'll be #50 I ran 38 in a league match Monday night. It's my best for the year, but nothin to brag about. Thirty years is a long time to not play this game. It's coming back to me very slowly. By the way, I just realized...I AM 50!

    Straight Pool Sub-Forum Request

I'm all for it I would like to see a 14.1-specific forum here. The knowledge base is terrific. (and not that I don't enjoy watching and learning, but I'd like anything that might help me keep Harriman in the chair a bit more during our next match)

    A Custom Cue Fitting?

Be patient What did you expect in 28 minutes? Seriously though, it's not that you don't have a point about "fitting," I think you're just overlooking the obvious. While most people don't get "fit" for a cue from a professional, like they might when buying a set of golf clubs, I think most...

Official Scores for the 2007 DMMHT

    9' Brunswick Anniversary, 5" corners, 5.25" sides. Managed to get some racks in last night. Although I got in stroke towards the end, it's easy to see that consistency is a problem. And I need to plan the last 5 better. #1 - 16, 16, 12, 16, 18, 7, 14, 20, 19, 4 = 142 #2 - 20, 20, 20, 7 (dog!)...

    Your DREAM table?

yeah, that's me,Scott. A straight pool league sounds great. Since it's been 30 years since I played in one, I'll need 85 on the wire to 100 - against everybody. And I assume Harriman has to play 100 no count.

    Your DREAM table?

Thank you, 14.1. I found the table and had it restored at the same place -- Billiard Restoration Service in Clay Center, Kansas. They do beautiful work. The price? [gulp!] Uh, just a tick under $7k, including delivery and installation, Simonis 860, a new set of Centennials, and some house cues...

Just In from Chicago Attorneys Regarding YOUR Check

No disrespect to anyone else's statements, but I think OBE's analysis here is the closest to correct. Maybe something is just getting lost in the translation here of what the lawyers are saying. Also, some seem to have the misconception that "fraud" equates to "criminal." It can, but what's...

    Your DREAM table?

Here's (hopefully) a little better picture of my dream table, in my dream room, in my dream house. This Anniversary (circa 1945) is fully restored, and looks and plays like new. I've had it for almost a year, and I still go downstairs every morning just to look at it. And another one with the...

    Your DREAM table?

See my avatar. 9' Brunswick Anniversary. New artemis cushions, Simonis 860. Made the light myself - along with the rest of the room. It's like heaven.

    KT's Lawyers

Empathy? Gosh Jake, ever heard of "empathy"? Maybe if I knew you I'd care that you rode Lucent down the tubes. But I do know people with a real stake in this whole mess, and I do care about them. You're mostly right about the value of free advice, but "advising" anyone is not my aim here...

    KT's Lawyers

Just a couple comments on some previous posts while I'm sitting here in my pool room getting ready to practice for my inaugural entry in the DM Tourney. First, from what I've seen on this board, I don't think there's much doubt that someone in KT's camp is monitoring things said about him and...

    KT's Lawyers

I certainly didn't intend to imply that you weren't well-informed -- I just put the info out there for those who might not be. I know there are plenty of "heavy hitters" in the Chicago legal community besides J&B. I've hired a fair number of them myself. You're right, Lane's motto is a hoot...
