    Roger Griffis

I knew Roger for 40+ years....I started college in Austin in the early 70's and met Roger at the legendary Moyers Billiard Café on Airport Rd. He was only about 15 years old and in love with the game. I think he spent more time in the pool hall than at school and was just a happy go lucky kid...

    Why do older cues

Bingo....pd....more solid installed in the butt of the cue. One of the most common repair jobs back in the day....was replacing the split shaft that was somehow whacked on the table, cue dropped, too hard a bend while following through on the break, etc. Joint bands and joint collars made...

    Blue Simonis

I use the green Masters......the blue blends in and you cannot really tell how dirty your table is. Wait....you can...because your hand turns dark blue to black after playing. And....the waitresses can now see what tables need brushing when using the lighter green.

    McDermott joint width

I have a box of McD shafts I have accumulated over the last 30 or so years, and they vary from .825 to almost .860. Depending on who was polishing joints that day in the factory (matching the collars) would determine the final diameter. Some employees were more aggressive than others. I...

    The hard question

It is really very simple, the promoters are falling down on the job. Within 48 hours, a tournament report complete with finishing order should be sent to all possible media sources. AZ cant be responsible for reporting the event, if they get no results from whomever ran the show. The events...

    Passing of Bob Vanover

A Texas legend has left us......I and the rest of the world found out how good he really played back in the 80's. The River City Open in Austin, TX was held during the Rempe, Siegel, Miz, Hopkins, Varner era of domination and Bob finished 3rd losing a hill-hill match against Hopkins. I...
