    Humidity

I stand corrected. But the cushions do firm up as pores fill. With regular humidity, pores fill and old cushions play faster...even with new slick cloth on em. As you get more excessive prolonged humidity, cushions will actually swell and the bounce gets reduced compared to normal. Then...

    Humidity

Not really sure what constitutes rubber being 'waterlogged', but mere high atmospheric humidity speeds up the rails by firming them up as the water fills up the pores in aged cushions. The grip of the cloth wouldn't make a straight on hit rebound faster than usual, which is exactly what...

    Humidity

A quick line to remember in high humidity is "slow cloth, fast rails". Esp if the cushions are older, the humidity fills the pores in the rubber and really firms them up. They get bouncy and bank/kick short. Cloth, on the other hand, gets muggy and slow. Balls get a bit sticky too so...

If Joshua Filler and/or Fedor Gorst Were Born In The United States

Not a chance. The early high level coaching and intensity in training for both just wouldn't happen in America. I'm not sure either would even pick up a cue by the time they were competing for world junior titles.

    Biggest lies in pool stories

I kinda feel bad for guys who actually ran 100 or paid their way through collage back in the day bc everyone will just assume they're a gas bag like anyone else who utters those words. Got to play a few guys saying such things and despite my collage days pool playing paying little more than my...

Any instruction resources available for playing with an upright stance?

Good point. Many of the old timers with high stances gripped the cue way up in the middle of the wrap which you almost never see anymore unless the guy is playing a 65" cue in a low stance. When I played higher, I def didn't grip as far back as when lower.

Any instruction resources available for playing with an upright stance?

I can offer a few suggestions for playing upright as the only reason I bailed on switching to an upright stance for my back was getting used to the vantage point. I didn't really have any issues getting a trustworthy repeatable stroke though. First you have to understand that an upright stance...

    Locked wrist opinions

Sometimes a locked wrist feel is far from actually being locked, it's just far more limited in movement than a dead hang. Even CJ who was mentioned as being locked def isn't. Yes, he presets a forward position, but his special hammer move that he advocates (and got flamed for) is a wrist...

    High(er) Stances

To ur high stance friend it doesn't matter because he's used to that vantage point. But switching from low to high stance is hard work even with the standing aim method. I tried it for my back but ultimately had to go back to low stance because shots, especially long ones just didnt look...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

If it was 100% efficient I doubt we'd be around to wonder such things. We talking about an explosion 120,000 times more powerful.

    Golf Tee Drill Issues

Ha! Nice catch. Plus they fell slightly away from direction cue is moving instead of towards target... This crime scene has been tampered with.

This Layout Took Me Three Tries

Easy out. More consensus on the out than on how to use 'margin of error' correctly.

    Golf Tee Drill Issues

This could be true if he were a lefty. For a rightee, when the back arm collapses in towards the body, the tip goes right. Other than that, I agree, it could be a lot of things. Video would narrow the possibilities significantly. One common cause of a tip left miss is shoulder...

    Repetitive Stress Injury from Pool?

No way for me to know for sure but from what you described and the area it is in, def seems like a triceps tendon strain originally as I described in my post above on how a fixed elbow could lead to this type of injury. It was originally a tendon issue almost certainly given that the pain was...

take it to DM's boys. Nobody cares.

    Repetitive Stress Injury from Pool?

A fixed elbow will eat the force of a strong stroke that would otherwise go into an elbow drop. For the most part, the triceps tendon will get most stressed and could even get damaged...which takes super long to properly heal. This strain on the triceps tendon can cause some inflamation in...

When You Are In A Slump

A slump is usually fundamentals. Refresher lesson with an instructor could help a lot as they are far more likely to identify what's wrong and help you fix it. Phil Mickelson (a hall of fame golfer for you only-pool die hards) was asked how he gets out of a slump once and said that it's...

    Going backwards

This. We're all a little guilty of walking away from a lesson thinking 'OK, now I've got it and will keep it forever'. But there is a good reason why good coaches in any sport refuse to address many things in one session....retention is just really really low, even if just 2 things are...

What is the One Major Player Flaw You See Most Often At The Pool Hall

Fair enough. I just posted that as a bring back to my original thoughts on the most common mistake...lack of tactical awareness and the absence of defence. All too often I'll see players in a tough pot with tough shape spot and take it on anyway with little reward and a potential sellout if...
