DIY Tip Replacement - Ferrule Question

We used to put those in ivory ferrules back in the day. Not sure if they are relevant now. I'd remove it, especially if using a Kamui clear :) -td

    DigiBall charging station

Thought: if you need vent holes for heat reduction, you can make the holes spell Digiball, it'll serve 2 purposes and also be less obvious. -td

    Cue Cases for Travel?

I recently did a fair bit of experimenting on the case/luggage issue. For off-the-shelf cases, there is a tendency to accommodate longer cues, so a lot of cases won't fit in a checked bag. Coupled with the limited sizes for hard shell suitcases [the largest reasonable option I could find was...

WWYD to run 3 & out.

I also shot this a bunch today. I 100% agree with Bob that the follow shot is simply being mad at your wallet. As DannyD says - "he's going to sleep in the streets with that shot!" TOP: One significant reason that the follow shot is a poor option is that it is too speed dependent. Not only...

    Low Deflection Shaft

Fixed it. :) One additional positive I find with CF [but really low deflection in general] is the amount of forgiveness they have for an imperfect stroke. -td

A little exercise to test a 'straight-in' short shot with control of the CB

ha! Thanks, Bob. Also, that 9-ball is a special Texas edition. Probably why it has mung :) I definitely used a little left/right to keep the cue on the pocket line. Without any side, I think I would have been out of line about 10 in. I was one of the unlucky folks to get scammed with the...

A little exercise to test a 'straight-in' short shot with control of the CB

Agreed! The only "in line" is straight in! I guess my fundamental question was why walk to re-spot the same ball over and over. It seems like extra steps that aren't relevant to the shot. It's a good testing drill and IMO, 1-5 is a what beginner/novice shooters will get. 5-10 is what...

A little exercise to test a 'straight-in' short shot with control of the CB

Ah. Well, based on your comment that "nuance" control is the goal, it appears that any draw distance is fine so long as it's some slight amount, but straight back to facilitate more attempts. For me, I found it more time efficiency to shoot from a small pile of balls (vs walking around the...

A little exercise to test a 'straight-in' short shot with control of the CB

Is there a particular distance that you have to draw it back? Also, is there a reason to shoot the same ball over and over (vs shooting, say, the 1-10)? -td

Why do these shafts wobble on one Schon butt, but not on two others?

It's almost certainly something on the facing of the joint. Super simple to check. If it's debris, just clean it. If it's fatigued, you might need to reface the joint. A repair guy with a lathe can do that in 30 seconds. -td

    Testing Your Stroke

Agreed. I don't think it is possible shooting level, Lou. Even the OP shot downward. I don't think you can get the vectors right with a level cue as the necessary contact point on the cue ball is obstructed by the rail shooting level. Adjusting with a little elevation corrects for this, just...
