    What kind of glue?

Glue lines I agree with Dick. The only way you can have no glue line is if you have no glue. Even with a "perfect" joint, when the glue penetrates the wood it can darken it. This is more pronounced in some woods than others. In addition, the wood combination/contrast can make all the...

    Ebony cue with brown phenolic

I guess I don't really have a preference. I think a stark contrast and a subtle contrast can both be attractive. Sometimes you just don't know till it's complete. I'll try anything once, just to see how it looks:p Here's another ebony with a bocote butt cap. Man, I gotta get a better...

    I got a rattle.

Just my opinion. Come on guys. The name of the forum is "Ask the Cuemaker".....duh! If the answer is just going to be "Figure it out yourself", it kind of defeats the purpose of this forum. Besides, none of us has the time to make ALL the mistakes ourselves:p Kudos to people like cueman...

    I got a rattle.

Cut me Mick! I don't know of any other way to get it apart:confused: You'll also want to check the forearm carefully. If you hydro-locked the joint when you were assembling the handle to the forearm, the pressure may have cracked/split the forearm. That could give you a buzz as well.

    Question about the Wolfgang spindle

I've run into a problem with my Wolfgang spindle. When I bought it, I was concernd about the lack of a flat on the spindle to allow the use of a wrench when tightening the drawbar allen screw. I contacted the seller and was assured that holding the spindle with my fingers when tightening the...

    Wolfgang Spindle on Taig Mill

A little early, but so far so good. Hi Mike, I just got it mounted and I haven't done too much with it yet. I have done some tests cutting pockets with the Wolfgang and the stock Taig spindle for comparison. The Wolfgang's higher speed (20,000 RPM) does allow for higher feed rates and the...

    Wolfgang Spindle on Taig Mill

I bought one of the Wolfgang Engineering spindles for my CNC Taig mill. The mount that comes with the spindle is designed to to used "in place" of the stock Taig spindle. I wanted to use the Wolfgang spindle for my inlay work, but didn't want to have to swap spindles back and forth when I...

    Usb cnc controller

My bad! Sorry Tony! Poor reading comprehension on my part:o I didn't realize your statement only refered to Mach3 when using the Smooth Stepper. I've heard of the Smooth Stepper, but don't really know anything about it.

    Usb cnc controller

Could you elaborate? I agree that you should work to remove any unneccesary backlash, but it's virtually impossible to eliminate "all" the backlash in any mechanical system. I just don't understand your statement. It did take a little tweaking, but the backlash compensation in Mach3 works...

    Cutting inlay pockets

Thanks for the good ideas Thanks to both Willee and Tony:thumbup: I was worried about tool deflection with the smaller cutters, but I never thought about cutting twice in opposite directions....duh!!!!!! That certainly should take care of it. Just a word for Tony. You consider using a .0156"...

    Cutting inlay pockets

Another senior moment Thanks Royce! I read the Precise Bits tutorial last year (before I actually got my CNC) and totally forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder! I can program the cuts in BobCAD V19 with no problems. Just needed to know the best way to do the actual cutting.
