Shout out to Ray Martin and Dallas West

I hope you don't take this the wrong way. Seems to me that what the OP was trying to do was to give them credit for their skills at the game of pool. I don't know either of these guys but I don't think their personalities were what this thread was about. Sounds like Dallas may have spoken out...

Your Ah-Ha moment in pool that took your game to the next level?

My first ah hah moment happened when I played pool against someone after being out of the game for years. I couldn't believe how bad I played. It motivated me to get back into the game. My second one was watching good players play and learning by watching them. I racked a lot!! One of the...

    Playing Pool>>2 things

I tore my rotator cuff, not a pool injury, but then playing pool prior to being fully recovered, hurt my shoulder again. This actually helped me with my stroke. I began to isolate my elbow while stroking and stopped using my shoulder. My stroke improved dramatically.

What do people really want from a pool room?

I worked in a pool hall for 3 years. I think the following are essential: 1. Good location - easy to get there and good parking 2. Cleanliness - Huge 3. Good equipment 4 Place for recreational players with music, beer, wine and food available 5. Place for players to play - tournament room...

How's the layout? Would you play here? Need opinions please!

It looks very nice. I'd play there in a heartbeat! I think one of the best pool halls I've ever been in for the sheer layout is California Billiards in Mountain View, California. They have it set up so sweaters can sweat the action without ever getting in the way of the players.

    Pool in the News!

Anyone on the east coast know of him? He must be known if he's done what the article says he's done. I'd like to hear someone that knows him wade in on this. As for what the article says and whether it's negative or positive, I didn't get a feel for it being either way. Seemed to me to be...

    Another sick shot by Efren

I believe Freddie the Beard said something about Efren's luck once on here a long time ago. He was telling the story how Efren was learning to play 1h better in Chicago and how he seemed to be so lucky. Trouble is, he seemed to be lucky all the time! LOL

    Another sick shot by Efren

Hey, my wife is Pinay too! In her family, they would call that anting anting (not sure about the spelling).

Who do you like? - Amar Kang VS. Oscar Dominguez

If Amar is playing and in stroke, I think it would be a tight match. But, if he's playing cards more than he's playing pool, it could be pretty tough for Amar. I've seen him when he was hitting them good and he can be a monster on the table when he's firing on all 8.

Can a tournament that is handicapped be an Open tournament ?

In California at the Jointed Cue in Sacramento, there is a tournament every week that is open but weaker players pay less to get in and better players pay more to get in. This is an example I guess of an open tournament that is handicapped by the entry fee. No handicaps once play begins. It's...

Johnny Archer's 13 Racks on Busty...Does the table have any value??

I'd sure be surprised if it wasn't worth some money. Of course how much may depend on what kind of shape it's in. With any collectible, the value is in the eye of the person wanting to purchase it.

    best coach

I think your idea is pretty good but I would add that by doing this, going to see a bunch of instructors, find the one that you feel the most comfortable with and who you understand the best and stay with that instructor for a longer period. Another thing, just because someone is a great...

    Gambling question?

I think it's kind of silly to gamble where you live. You beat this guy, he's going to ask for a spot. You spot him and you beat him again, he's going to ask for another spot until he starts beating you. It just doesn't make sense to me to gamble where you live. JMHO. Other than that, as...

    Slipstrokes

I took a lesson from Buddy Hall and I was using the slip stroke back then and he told me to lose it. Of course I wasn't going to argue with my idol! I have heard too that there are different versions of the slip stroke. What you show in your video is what I used to use. Another method of...

    Slipstrokes

I use the slip occasionally as well. My problem with it is the cue ball control. Accuracy is usually pretty good. The other problem I have sometimes with it is that I don't always get the stroke control, i.e., the speed with which to hit the ball. I guess that goes back to the cue ball...

    Speechless, "...................."

Awesome! Great cue ball control too! He put some heat on the 6 to get to the 7. Wow!

    Plane Alignment

I remember reading something an older pool player said once about another player who happened to be a great player. He said that the thumb on his grip hand should point straight down to the floor This other guy told him, "Hey, he's a great player and doesn't need to change a thing."...
