    Any suggestions?

Hal, I don't think this pic reflects the shot he's talking about. You've got the ob between the 1st diamond and the rail. I think the ob is up more and a little closer to the rail - 4". I suggest you practice that shot until you master it no matter how long it takes. You will improve your...

    I give up!

Been on this board a long time and didn't have a clue about the above-mentioned blue border. I'll be damned! I don't know why RD is leaving but I think it's probably been coming for a long time, ever since DM was banned. I'm gonna miss you Dawg and I hope your leg gets better. I'll be...

    1h Break

This is exactly why I started this thread. I've never seen a really good player using this break and I've seen the best; Efren, Nick Varner, Billy Palmer, TRex, Parica, etc. and none of them ever used this break. Watching this guy yesterday, though, made me wonder because he was really hitting...

    1h Break

1h = one hole or one pocket. It's a pretty common abbreviation here on this forum.

Why do Players Miss Power Shots?

I agree. When you put the power in, there is a tendency to use other parts of the body to add to the power thus causing inappropriate movement. I've seen me do it on video - very humbling!

    1h Break

Has anyone played someone that can really break well using the kick break? I played a guy yesterday that shot this break shot flawlessly. He would kick the cb into the side rail and hit the pack right around the second ball and the cb would freeze up against the pack. No balls would move...

I want to clear something up!

I agree with OHB and TBA. A player plays for himself not someone betting on them in the Calcutta. If the person that bought a calcutta amount wants to share his/her winnings with the player, that's their prerogative - end of story. True story: A guy was betting on the crap table and a...

    Follow-through vs. Pendulum

Well there are two schools of thought here: 1. Don't worry about following through more than 4" and end the stroke with the tip of the cue pointing down into the slate. 2. Follow through further than 4" for extreme draw shots by dropping your elbow and the cue tip will follow through much...

    Reno Open

I certainly hope Amar behaves himself this time! He's got way too much talent to squandor it with inappropriate behaviors. I'd love to see him mature into a high caliber pool player because I know he has the talent. Just wish I had just some of his ability!

    Aiming

The full ball, half ball and quarter ball theory is not accurate. Just one example should put this dog to bed: a very thin cut on the ball when the cb and the ob are almost parallel to one another. I was one of those that disagreed with DM on this subject. My feeling is that an aiming...

    IPT and HOF

I certainly hope they do. Of course that's predicated on the IPT still being around 2 years from now! I have my fingers crossed!

    Congratulations girlwon1

Congratulations! I'm impressed! I have so much respect for people that can travel to a tournament, get very little sleep and win match after match to win the whole thing. There are just so many things to contend with, bad rolls, rude people and umpteen other things that can go against you...

    Pics from the Event

What was the deal with Efren, he was sitting there and another guy was standing behind him pointing to him. It looked like he might have been asleep or was it just because he was dressed up? I agree with the others that it was refreshing to see all the players dressed up. I hope this starts a...

    Hal Houle

Johnny's answer is kind of strange. It is my aiming system, what does that mean? Is the aiming system that Hal described Johnny's system or is Johnny trying to say that whatever he uses is his system?

Not Too Many 8 Ball Break and Run

Well the cloth is slower and that's a big change for the pros. They are precision players and can park the cb on a dime on the cloth they're used to. Now they have to change a lot under quite a bit of pressure. Aren't the pockets tighter than normal too?

    Welcome to the board Mike.

    The snap

It's used the same way where I play. Some times people will say, "Make the 9 on the snap!" and is usually yelled out by the backer of the player that's breaking. LOL
