White linen with single brown spec would be my other choice as well,
and to answer your question, I do not believe the ring gets "lost",
rather I think it gets amplified as you have brown between the ring
and the wrap.

For the money the Tom Wirth book is a much
better value as well as being spiral bound so
you can open it up on the table and set up
the shots he is talking about to work on.
