I'm guilty and wanna pay you back. Sorry.

Being a man of such fine tastes as you are, you may want to know that the female in question has been drawing her social security for a couple decades now. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

    1990s 9-ball McCready vs. Paez

Honestly -- we may be over complicating things. I love these old matches as much as anybody, but a large part of what makes them interesting is probably the fact that they just aren't as good as today's players. This makes the racks more interesting. Couple that with the more...

SVB’s wrist movement during his stroke and his changes over the years

Maybe. 😀 I just don't think a longer cue helps most players cue straighter. I get why they do it, as it feels interesting playing with an extension on. But does it actually help? I'm skeptical as it's sort of obvious that the longer your cue gets the more it's affected by minor arm movement...

    2025 Men's World 10-Ball Championship, Sept. 20-28 -- General Comments Thread

The whole shootout idea just misses the mark. The shootout itself may be interesting and even exciting to a certain extent. It's what the shootout replaces -- a potential HILL - HILL rack that's nuts. If these types of racks aren't the most exciting spectacle in all of cue sports than what is...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

I know you love Sigel but I think it's pretty clear pool is an international game now, and there are a lot more great players that the tops dogs have to content with. I just don't think it's possible for anyone to really dominant 9 ball pool because of this. Now would Sigel be among the top...

SVB’s wrist movement during his stroke and his changes over the years

Probably just a natural evolution of his stroke. He doesn't seem like the type of player that would focus on his technique as much as someone like Neils would. His body has changed a bit as he's aged. Maybe it's just a result of that. The follow-through thing I think has something to do with...

    Men's 2025 World 8-Ball Championship, Bali, Oct.7-13

The problem with 8 ball on any table is -- you're really not competing against an opponent. It's like a 2 player version of the ghost. You break and if you make a ball, you try to run out. If you fail the runout, your opponent (ghost) wins. 9 ball has way more back and forth play. You screw up...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

Good post. I do agree that the tourney vs gambling mindset has a lot to do with the poor tourney play we see in many of the old matches. Most of these guys were just accustomed to playing with a certain type of freedom, while today's players don't have this luxury. What's funny is the narrative...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

I don't think anybody can win that many titles in today's game. It's just too hard for the elites to separate themselves. But would he be among the elite in today's game? I didn't use to think so, but I think I was wrong.

    9-Ball Pushout - Foul

I wonder what it would look like if Matchroom brought back - BIH behind the line on a scratch after the break, with or without spotting balls. I think some little tweak to add a little more variety wouldn't be a bad thing. Everybody always discounts the viewers on here. Football is probably the...

1990 US Open Sigel & Varner - 5 Inch Pockets

Every video of McCready is the same -- flashes of greatness, followed by wild misses. I've been watching all these old matches and I pay the monthly subscription to watch the members only ones too. I got to say -- a lot of the tales we've read over the years about most of these players -- don't...

Jeanette Lee coming up in the 8 o’clock hour of CBS morning show 8/27

You do have to wonder sometimes if the new crop of commentators ever listened to the old pre Mark Wilson Accu-Stats matches. You'd think they would have grown up on it, but their commentary doesn't really reflect this.

Playing Off the Rail with Tony Annigoni

Who cares if your book has any monetary value or not? I'd guess it doesn't, but it sure is cool. Some things are just valuable, even if only to ourselves, and only for a time. Nice post. Thanks for sharing.

    DCC "Go Fund Me"

Put me in coach. Just kidding. Still haven't been though. It just has never worked out for me. One of these years I'm going to go and my write-up will be worthy of at least 3 thumbs-up, 2 laughs, a single wow, and zero heart emoji's. That's my AZ Guarantee!!!

The Texas Open is free to stream on Youtube

So is it safe to assume we exaggerated the demise of regional tour / Pro-Am 9 ball events due to SVB's drubbing of Fedor?

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

We almost always exaggerate what actually happens in these one-sided matches. I've been guilty of it myself. The losing player almost always has at least a couple of opportunities that they fail to capitalize on. This match was no different. The arguably - greatest player in the world had...

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

Table was so fast too. I've grown to like Diamonds, but I don't like them as fast as that table. I know I'm in the minority though. I'm actually more impressed by pinpoint cue ball control on a really fast table. You have to be even more tuned in.

    What killed the slip stroke?

I'd guess the loss of the slip-stroke as a technique was natural as players transitioned from playing mainly 14.1 to 9 ball. Those 14.1 players tended to grip the cue much further forward than today's players. All the short, precision shots required in 14.1, just didn't need as much cue power...
