How to true up 3 jaw chuck

I have a Hightower Deluxe lathe. When I chuck up a precision ground dowel, my dial micrometer shows about .004" runout. What's the best way to true it up? Or is this enough to even be concerned? BTW, not a knock on the Hightower. I've been using this one for over 10 years and I'm completely...

    Moori tips, are they done?

Just got a newsletter from Florida. Said that the shortage is a myth and he has plenty. Said Moori isn't going anywhere.

Instructions on Adding a CueTable Layout to Your AZ Post

If anyone knows of a good alternative, please post. I had planned on using this software to annotate a rule book.

So Obama fancies himself a poolplayer.

Omg! You just described me. Except for the bi-polar and meds.

    Taper roll/warp/does it matter??

I always chuck the shaft up in my lathe and hand turn it a couple of revolutions. If the tip doesn't wobble, the shaft is straight. Doesn't mean you won't see daylight when you roll the shaft on a flat surface. I suspect some taper roll occurs when a cue repairman chucks up the shaft slightly...

Where can I find APA mini tournaments?

The real mini tournaments are in Vegas at the Nationals. Any APA player can compete. You don't have to win a qualifier. My wife's ladies team won a trip to Vegas a few years back and I ended up winning about $700 in the mini's. Their team finished high in the Nationals and they won less than...

Speed Pool, what is this Crap?

I met Dave Pearson in Vegas a few years back. Nice guy who was amazing to watch playing speed pool. But he also an outstanding player with a one handed jump shot that was phenomenal. I'm sure YouTube has some videos of Dave. I personally believe that speed pool is a short term gimmick. I don't...

    Moori (weird)

Had the same problem a while back. Found on the Cuemaker's Forum that priming the tips with thin cyano makes them adhere better. Not had a single issue since I started priming. I do this with all tips now.

    My cue shafts keep warping

The risk is warpage, theft, and inlays moving damaging the finish. But I know many excellent players with high end equipment leaving cues in their car. I guess it's just my OCD. My 10 year old Mezz still looks basically new and I play 2-3 nights a week.

    Moori tips, are they done?

Hope not. I just installed two today. I haven't ordered any in about 6 months because most of my customers are requesting Kamui Blacks. I still like the Moori III mediums and the one I put on a Meucci Original today hits and feels great. I purchased a dozen mediums a couple of years ago and had...

    My cue shafts keep warping

Exactly. I can't think of any good reason to store cues in your car unless you're heading to or leaving a pool room. Why expose your cues to heat and humidity or worse, theft?

    US Amateur Championships-Just an Opinion

I'm no big fan of the APA but I agree with this post. I payed $60 last January to see Jerry Seinfeld perform for about an hour. I enjoyed it and felt like I got my money's worth. Same with the U.S. Amateur qualifiers.
