    update from world cup

I HATE the Friggin Format!!! Who's idea was to play to 15 points, best out of whatever? For these guys; in a 15 point game, one hot inning and your opponent is toast. Best out of...fine. But play to at least 25.

A New Community Joined 3-Cushion Billiard, Opinions Needed!

I play some, fun game but I thought it was Japanese. Is there a difference? Anyone play 2 ball? Tough game. Also, anyone ever play 'any' cue ball or 'alternating' cue ball?

    Reccomendations Please !!!

IMO, the best book for the beginning player is Byrne's, 'Book of Pool and Billiards'. I've been playing for 30 years and still refer to it. If I could only afford one book this would be it. You could probably even find it in the library.

Does The Yellow Ball Roll Longer???

It usually does... If it's your cue ball.

    Staff addition-College Billiards

They have a cue club. Think it's around 1k a year. Unlimited play until 6pm. Not sure if weekends are included, though. Still, if you play more than a few times a week...well worth the price. I mostly play in TJ as I live near Rosarito. The best deal. Good tables, level of competition is...

    2nd rail aiming?

Yeah, I used to to that and still do occasionally on short table shots. I think it's a natural progression to smoothly integrate the diamond system into one's game. I personally don't know of many players who rely on pure mathematical systems, at least not those who really enjoy the game. I...

    Please, criticize me

I disagree. It's way beyond that. The difference between the top 50 or so players and more importantly, the top 10 is focus/concentration. It takes an unbelievable amount of mental energy to play this game at the penultimate level. Practice, having the shots, sure...but that's only a...

Monica Webb Photo from Galveston shooting 3C

From the apparent angle off the long rail it looks as if she's aiming to clip the front of the yellow. Long-yellow-opposite long then short and red. Tough shot...you think?

    USBA is Crap

U.S. carom players are overwhelmingly either foreign born or first generation citizens who speak English as a second language...SMART. Chastising those who voluntarily belong to any organization is counterproductive...NOT SO SMART. Rewarding members would be a better option.

    USBA is Crap

How would owners know? Most think pool and billiards are one in the same. Carom players don't function as an organized group. A player walks into a room, sees no tables and walks out. He may say something to the owner/manager but he's just one guy. No owner would spend 5-8k based on that. IMO...

    USBA is Crap

Only if you don't want to improve your game. ;) I play some at College but mainly in Tijuana. Most of the time I'm the only white guy in the room. Never felt the least bit uncomfortable or concerned for my safety. The level of play is phenomenal and all players are perfect gentlemen. Players...

    USBA is Crap

Probably because you haven't looked. I would assume St. Louis has healthy Latino and Asian communities. If you polled these people I'd bet you'd find a hundred, maybe more. San Diego's College Billiards had two ratty tables. At most, six active players. New owners put in 6 Verhoevens. Every...

    USBA is Crap

I've been fortunate in that I learned the game in my teens. I first approached billiards as a tool to improve my pool skills...Then fell in love with the game. I've also mostly lived in places that offered an opportunity to play... And I'm not talking major metropolitan areas. I learned the game...

Pedro Piedrabuena wins the Panamerican Championship

Really happy for Pedro. This will improve his international ranking. Hope this means he will play more in Europe. IMO, he has the ability to become a top ranked player. And... you'll never meet a nicer guy!

    Hello to all

Nice to find this forum. I live 'south of the border' in Rosarito and play in Tijuana. Was wondering if any expats who play 3 cushion live in the area. For those in SoCal it's well worth the trip. There are many 'A' and 'B' players in TJ and it's easy to get a game with a quality opponent...
