need a super mechanic in dallas

Shane (Cuephoric) Only guy in this area that I'll let touch my table - had RKC set it up. His job is about the same as RKC (putting cloth on). Great mechanic - and I have had some butchered jobs in the past by guys in the DFW area.

Richard Black for Sale w/ Tascarella Shafts

Dont blame him ... I have to admit - I have a Richard Black I had everything done on (refinish, re-wrap etc..). When I got it back it was a really poor job - I resent it back to him he apologized and couldnt believe he sent it out that way. I got it back a second time and still wasnt thrilled...

    Twilight Zone and Hustler Cases

Anybody know the case that Jonathon Winters used in that episode "A game of Pool". Possibly a Martin case? It is the nutz! I also really like Newmans case in the hustler. Looks like a diamond pattern. Anybody know what case this is? Always cringe when I see Newman get drunk and throw it.

    waxed balls

John is right Brallianize is the nuts - I got a gallon of it and use it with my ballstar probably every other day (I play alot). Another factor is clean balls wear the cloth out a LOT slower. Less burn marks etc... Great for straight pool as the balls seperate very well (which is probably...

    Choosing a cuebuilding lathe.

Buy the Hightower I did many years ago - best money I ever spent. Really a quality product - I made the money back and then some just doing tips. I play also and it was worth the money just in cleaning my own shafts and tips and putting on tips for others. Fantastic machine. Chris

    Smithsonian Bender on Ebay

Price is loony He is trolling for a sucker. Funny thing - anyone thats going to spend 75 large on a cue is probably going to be an astute collector and laugh at his auction.

Should I Have Done Things Different?

Had the same decision I knew from a very early age I loved this game and would play it my whole life. I looked around my pool hall at some of the best players and they would be living out of the back of their cars. Its a wonderful game but unfortunately if your not top 10 in the worlds its...

    Where are they now?

Thanks Jay Im actually still good friends with the Dabarber and make it to his house when I come visit So Ca. He has lost touch with all these guys. Its funny - only knowing nicknames makes it tough finding people on facebook!

Why turning down original cuemaker shafts....

I agree with you... I dont modify the cuemaker's taper - in fact I order them a little oversized to start with as cue's naturally over time lose a little diameter. Gives you a little "play" when cleaning the shafts too. I guess Im anal. I think a lot of cue market discounts shafts less than...

The Perfect Case for Your Cue

Anybody know ... The case that Jonathon Winters used in that episode of the Twilight Zone? Looks like a black eel skin case, handle to carry. Always REALLY liked this case. Possibly a Martin case? I wonder what happened to that case. Chris

    whats your taper

In the same boat I have most of my cues made now with at least 13.25. Just seems like they have more "spine". I would think it would be tough to find tips for a 14MM - you usually buy tips a little bigger than your ferrulle diameter and cut down to install. Do they sell 15 MM tips?

    feelings???

I have read that... If George Balabushka found out you sold one of his cues he made for you to someone else - he would NEVER make you another cue. Just another perspective.

Anyone have objective opinions of Nova cues?

My personal cue is a Nubs I have 2 Novas - both hit excellent. It is similar to a schon but a little more solid. His claim to fame was his nylon insert which he believes makes his cues hit more solid - I have to agree. I have many cues from the cue greats but the Nova is the one I like best...

    Banking with the Beard

PH.D stuff Banking with the Beard really goes deep into banking. Gives you the simple stuff but also gets into a lot of stuff you will probably never use (unless your a bank pool player). A great read. The Bible when it comes to banking.

Why you don't let just any joker work on your cue!

Yep Thats the reason went out and bought myself a Hightower Deluxe as well. Cue building can be a fun hobby - and it sure is nice to be able to clean your shafts and put on tips (which has paid for the lathe - just putting on tips).

    Loose shaft

Fill the hole with Denatured alchohol - let sit a few seconds then pour out. Wood will swell up a bit. Afterwards the fit is much tighter.
