WE need a decent ppol hall in Dallas

Since he chimed in (Shane - Cuephoric) Shane (cuephoric) was the mechanic I was speaking about. Does top notch work and wont leave till the table plays PERFECT. And his prices are more than fair. Wish more pool hall owners would use him instead of the hacks they hire.

    Szamboti Hoppe Ring Dimensions?

Funny you mention this I have always liked the "thinner" ring like Guz and Mottey do it. I think the fat ring ruins the look.

    Finish Question

Interesting I do have one 60 inch cue in my collection (Abear). I'll have to pull it out and give it a shot. Sounds like the consensus though is that it doesnt bother the finish. My instructor didnt mention anything about longer cues. Actually doesnt bother me much gripping it back there -...

    Finish Question

Answers Im 6 foot 4 - and to have the 90 degree "set" position - I have to grip the cue at the butt. My hands dont sweat a lot. Im a cue collector - and all my cues start about 1000 bucks up to around 5000.

WE need a decent ppol hall in Dallas

There is one local guy Glen that is one good mechanic - I think you know who Im talking about. The problem isnt just that there arent enough good mechanics - its that room owners here dont care about offering good equipment. There are a "glut" of owners here that offer free table time if your...

    Finish Question

I took a lesson and my instructor has me gripping the cue now at the very butt end of the cue. Will prolonged gripping at the butt eventually wear the finish down? I have seen some cues with the finish completely off the cue - is that from gripping other than the grip area? Thanks!

WE need a decent ppol hall in Dallas

I have always felt That a pool room located in a strategic place between Dallas and Fort Worth would make a mint (if they had good tables - Diamonds). I have a wealthy friend (pool nut) that was going to buy out Billy Wiers years ago - but he couldnt find someone to run the joint. If someone...

    WD-700 Ferrule

Dirty Ferrule problem One of the reasons I love ivory - chalk dont stick to it. BTW - magic erasure and denatured alchohol works wonders on dirty ferrules - a true miracle.

Meet "Orca II", a 12 pt. Cue

Wow Sweet cue - I was lucky enough to see the original "Jaws" cue when I visited Schragers shop as a youth. It was amazing in person. I was horrified when I found out it had been stolen. Truly a beautiful cue and great tribute! Chris

Old school Hopkins vs. Rosas match

Thanks man!! That was a fun match to watch. I used to run around Upland California with Ron's Cousin Rod Rosas - if your out there Rod here is a shout out to ya! Something nostalgic about watching them play back in the 80s on the Gold Crown with slow cloth. I miss that era - good times...

Letters - Do they make a difference?

Business Opportunity Is there anybody out there that could validate a cue collection value wise based on pictures. I have always wanted something like that - I have a lot of cues with pictures of almost all of them - but not receipts. Have always worried about getting them stolen then having...

    favourite leather

Elephant Ear I have had all kinds of different leather wraps - will never go with anything else. It has a "soft" feel to it and is extremely durable. Had Steve Klein put it on my last cue and its amazing.

    The Missing Gene....HEART!

Something I will never forget ... I had the opportunity to grow up in a pool hall with some some really great players (Joe Salazar and Frank Almanza were 2 of them). There was a guy there named Allen that I was really good friends with - played strong - not Joe or Franks speed but really good...

TCB-Formerly College St. Billiards-Iowa City, IA

Went to U of I for grad school There was a place called Maxies - had one good 9 footer. There was also a bowling alley with some old 9 foot brunswick tables that were pretty sweet. This was all 15 years ago - sounds like the place has changed a lot!

    Monster JMW Hoppe

Rod is ... A great guy to deal with - beautiful cue. If I hadnt allocated my budget to a fancy Klein this year I would pick this one up. Its how a cue should look - not too gawdy but not too plain. Strikes the right balance.
