    Problem installing Layered Tips

Razor blade is the answer I had a thread with the exact same problem - use a razor blade (brand new) and while the shaft is spinning cut the sniper tip off - I tried using a bit and sandpaper and had all the trouble you are describing. Also cut off the top couple layers and shape with a...

    Tip Question

Got er done Trimming with Razor Blade did the trick. Your right - this tip is a ***** to install - I only charged the guy 22 - but I will ask 32 from now on (which is what I charge for Moori - this is every bit as time consuming).

    Some 14.1 Strategies (Wildhair)

Wealth of Knowledge Well its exciting to see that others have the same love I do. I am lucky enough to live in an area with a straight pool league. Straight pool is the only game I believe that captures the "artistry" available on a pool table, nudging balls, pattern play, safety valves...

    Tip Question

I put on a Sniper Tip last night and had a lot of problems. First it frayed when cutting with my big. I have a Hightower Delux with a tip shaper and it frayed there as well. In fact one of the layers of the tip seperated from the rest of the tip. I could literaly pull the layer away with my...

Women of the IPT tour, thoughts?

Applause It will be interesting to see how the women adjust to not getting applause for every 3 foot straight in shot - that is so demeaning I cant believe ESPN allows it. Its pathetic. I still maintain that most women couldn't beat most road players let alone the pro's. Well see. Tuna

    Sniper Tip

I had a customer order a Sniper Tip and I got the tip in today. On one side it is black and the other side is white - does anybody know which side you apply the glue to or does it matter (Moori has one side a glue side). Thanks to anyone who knows the answer. Tuna

    T-shirt please.

I'll give the world the 6 I heard the shirt read "I'll give the world the 6". Funniest damn thing I ever heard. You should get a case that says "Kneel before Zod" Kieth. I have seen you plan when I lived in CA and in Missouri. Watching you and your mouth is more entertaining than ANY...

    Gambling Christian??

Modern Day Jesus If Jesus where around today he would have been playing pool most likely. In his day he hung out with Prostitutes and Tax Collectors (you go where the sinful are). I play pool and am a Christian. I dont see anything wrong with playing pool either in tournaments or playing...

    Long Draw Shot Problem

Key to Long Draw Shots are staying down and accelerating THROUGH the cue ball with a good follow through. Best definition I ever heard for a good stroke is A GRACEFUL THROWING MOTION. You dont see a pitcher's backswing go as fast as his forward motion. Its a smooth windup with acceleration...

    Antler joints

Abear cues (he used to make cues here in Texas) used a lot of buckhorn in his cues. There is not really a problem using the stuff - but personally I dont like the "greyness" in the white. It always look funny and like dirty ivory to me - but again thats just a subjective opinion. I stick to...

    Lighting Wattage ??

I have a 9 foot Gold crown with a 3 fixture light. I would like to know if anybody else has a similar set up and what kinds of lights you guys use and wattage. I bought a book on table maintanance and they suggest 3 flourescent lights with 150 watts on the end and 100 watts in the middle (so...

Loctite 454 problems on Predator ferrules?

Ferrule He wanted an ivory ferrule put on (I warned him they can crack if broken with and not cared for) - the one that was on there cracked and he didnt want to wait for predator to replace it. My understanding is predator made their name for having the laminate shaft and that was what...

Loctite 454 problems on Predator ferrules?

Speaking of which Has anybody put a ferrule on a predator shaft? I put my first one on and couldnt believe the sloppy design predator uses for a tenon! In the one I did I cut the ferrule off and found a tenon that was cored out with some kind of waxy material in the center - which forces you...

    Removing Brass insert from shaft

I have heard using a sodering (sp??) iron and heating the brass insert will heat the glue and loosen the insert so you can just pull it out. Is it this easy or does anybody know an easier way? Thanks guys! Chris

    lemon wood shafts

Amen Birk Schrager is one of the nicest guys you will ever come accross. I got to meet him in person when I was a kid growing up in Southern CA. He took me and my girlfriend around his shop and gave me the tour of cuebuilding (which is why I do it today). We sat around and talked about pool...

    OOPS!! need some help

I read in Chris Hightower's book you can mix a little shaft dust with superglue and put that on the dent if it is too deep. Havent made this mistake yet so I cant speak as to how well it works - just another idea. If it isnt that deep - lightly sand the dent to open the pores and use a q-tip...
