Need advice on a new cue

There are a good number of top quality craftsmen that can and will build an excellent cue for the price range you are talking. I'll toss in the name of John Bender (no relation to Mike, who by the way builds a WORLD CLASS Cue). John has built roughly 100 cues and last I knew he wasn't doing a...

    offense vs defense

A friend of mine a very accomplished player states it like this "you shoot to win, not to not lose." Granted he is an aggressive player, but I have noticed in my own play I win more by shot making than hiding. There is a definite place for defense in a game but the more you attempt the riskier...

    Which cue

Just curious and this is for those of you that have more than one cue. I am assuming if you have more than one cue chances are they are by different Masters, builders or manufactures. If you had to play the game of your life, which cue would it be?

Cues that should no longer be played with

Personally I insured my cues it cost me $110.00 a year but loss, theft, damage no sweat. I can tell you it makes me feel a whole lot better. I doubt I would live long enough to have Joel build me another but with the insurance I could replace it with a reasonable substitue.

Cues that should no longer be played with

Playing Cue Its a personal decision I have played with my Gus when I had it and played all the cues when i had them and they ranged from $800.00 to probably $8000.00. I was just careful WHERE I PLAYED THEM.

    Olney

Well I bought this cue as a car cue so I wouldn't need to carry my higher dollar cues other than league night. I am happy with the cue but as I bought it new and did not commission it I determined I would prefer a leather wrap so I sent off to Martin for a Kangaroo Wrap and as I have never used...

    Schons are what end cues?

I would say a Schon is a good high end commercial cue. The ones I have played with play well. My only hit on them and and any custom is with rounded points.

What Do You Hate To See In A Cue?

I can understand uneven points and even appreciate them for being hand made. I am not a fan of square bottom points on a full splice cue nor rounded points or inlays.

    LD Shaft

I have never shot with nor felt the need for a low deflection shaft. Having said that and seeing so many of them out there I decided to bite the bullet and order one. I just sent a Olney Butt to Bob Danielson for one of his LD shafts. The cue is nothing fancy it is a Bloodwood cue no points etc...

Whats the best tip these days

I don't know it's the best tip but for my style of play I am a fan of the Hirano Medium. I just received an Olney cue basic car cue and it has a Milk Dud on it and to be honest I am not impressed. I am going to send the cue to Bob Danielson for one of his LD shafts and I am going to send a...
