Shot Diagraming: Need Input From Folks With Deeper Knowledge

You want to learn position play from watching pro billiard videos- great idea! Now, knowing what exactly should you be observing is the key to taking away the most benefit. If you already think that your stroke is straight through the cue ball and object ball through the chosen shot line-...

    Rough Faux leather wrap

I highly doubt that tough buffalo hide, if already installed on a cue, can be made "soft" enough to create the feeling that you seek. Save yourself some time and wasted money and just consult with a good cue maker about the correct cue wrap choice for the feeling that you seek.

Ever Overthink a Shot and Miss?

Great statement concerning the essence of mind and body co existing at opposite ends in the moment of shot execution! The late great billiards author George Fels had a statement in the opening of his book “Mastering Pool” - Pool is the highest form of concentration and relaxation that need...

    Meucci Archive

Thanks for this- brings back a lot of memories of playing in the 80s and 90s! My favorites of all are the Oldie 1 and Oldie2 -- also known as 95-17 and 95-19. We own both- I had bought one of each for my two sons- they are so classic, and they are very solid players, too! Thank You for this!!

    My JB History Case

Just a terrific case! The best that I have ever seen to copy the original. I have never seen an original as in the movie in person- the last that I own is the Lord Brunswick case from the mid 60s to mid 70s. I would never sell mine as it is mint original. Your case is just so, so cool- YOUR JB...

Seeking Input: Archer ‘93 vs. Today

A champion of any era is a champion because they had the physical and mental make- up to dominate the best at a given time- end of story. The length of time that one dominated any sport will tell you how superior their skills and mental make- up were during that time period. I firmly believe...

    Help with palmer ID

Original Palmer cues from the first catalog - early 60s right through the PM and PB models - ending in the 90s are always sold on eBay or the Palmer cue site on face book. I have owned several throughout the years including PM and PB models - I never had a poor playing Palmer. Prices will range...

    Help with palmer ID

I would agree that this looks like a Palmer Second Catalog Model D - it was most probably made in the mid to late 60s/early 70s. The second catalog Palmers had longer butt caps than the first catalog Palmers- and the ferrules were mostly permanently attached and did not screw off to be changed...

What's the thoughts on this case?

He has a Justice Pro Lite case and Whitten makes a light leather case now too- but, yes , the older leather cases and the Instroke are very heavy when loaded.

What's the thoughts on this case?

I sold both of my leather Instroke cases. Personally I don’t think that the leather pockets have enough give in them to hold whatever I want to carry for a full day of play or at tournaments. I think the leather cases are the nicest in appearance- no doubt - but from a practical standpoint they...

If you could build your dream room that actually has a chance to stay in business…

In the early 1960s Brunswick tried to attract women and families into rooms with a new inviting decor. Problem was it was just about 50 years too early in the female liberation movement. I agree, just like every successful gym in America- women must be attracted to your room for several reasons.

    standing up as you age??

I have adjusted my stance not bc of age - but to allow more clearance for my stroke - Mark Wilson points out how so many players are banging their shooting arm/ hand against their bodies that the stroke is never truly completed and the stroking arm moves sideways unconsciously so as to throw off...

    USPS....

I stopped using USPS for packages about three years ago - using FEdEX and never looked back. USPS tracking is a broken system. Problem for me is I cannot control some cue sellers who use USPS on eBay - last week I had to file an eBay dispute on a “lost” cue being sent to me - tracking went dead...

    Shark Out of Water

let's shed some light on this: 1. Billiards was very much a game enjoyed by lower classes and the very, very rich class as well. EVERY mansion built from the turn of the 19th into 20th century and all the high end mansions well into the 1920s had a dedicated billiards parlor room- the men all...

    Shark Out of Water

Pool was played in every country club in America - my point is that no one group, like golf , took charge way back then - to keep The game of billiards elevated with the moneyed crowd. So pool was dying as golf was flourishing. So pool hung onto these sad sack gambling , junkie, alcoholic...

    Shark Out of Water

I just don't know- I read the stories, so many tragic lives associated with this game. Do these real life stories add up to elevating the mystique of the game - or is a story like this exactly the reason pocket billiards- which was once front page sports news in every major newspaper- has only...
