What pool related present did you get?

I got a Talisman tribal 2x4 case with my name embossed down the back and a Dominiak cue. The case is beautiful. Bills new dominator II shaft is amazing. I have owned 6 of his cues and although they were well made they were too thick in the handle and the shaft taper was not quite what I liked...

    Young lady w perception/aiming error

In golf you often see new players who slice align more and more to the left only to slice more and more to the right. The only cure is to line up square and swing until you can swing correctly. I agree with Jude that if you are doing everything else right you just need to play more. Your vision...

    Coth: Simonis VS. ???

I prefer Granito Basalt (muellers). Plays just as nice as Simonis and lasts longer. Ive had both on my table and will use Granito from now on. It was slightly less expensive than Simonis the last time I checked.

    Quitecoolguy needs some help

Insulation works great. I used fiberglass insulation btween the floor joist just to help dampen the sound but I think blown in insulation and a good acoustic tile ceiling would really block the noise and make your room a much better place to listen to music at the same time. Good luck.

    Closed bridge or open..?

Since that post that Peer quoted I have started to use both bridges. Learning the closed bridge really helped me to start hitting the cue ball accurately. I still like it for draw shots and long straigt shots but probably use an open bridge 70% of the time. I pay a lot more attention to hitting...

    Stroke question.......

Tightening your grip during the stroke can cause you to pull your stroke off line and is usually most noticable on hard (high speed) strokes. Try to keep your grip pressure the same throuhout your stroke. It may help.

    Velocity pro cloth?

I have not used velocity pro but I have used Granito Basalt which is sold by Muellers and I liked it better than the Simonis 860 I have now. I believe it is quite popular in Europe and it is quite a bit cheaper than Simonis. If you get the Velocity Pro, Post a review. I need new cloth and would...

    Ruling

I think that a player accepts the table and pocket condition when he takes a shot. Repeated actions that affect table conditions by the opponent could be construed as unsportsmanlike. Even repeated carelessness.

    Ruling

I agree, I don't think it is a foul to set equipment anywhere on a table as long as you don't commit a foul while doing it. I can't find anything that makes it a foul to leave that equipment there when you are done with it ( unorthodox and careless maybe). You are responsible to make sure a...

Which cue case would you buy?

I have never noticed any damage to my cues and I am quite fussy, but if I could afford a JB case I would toss my present case in a heartbeat. You are lucky to be getting one of his cases. The ones I have seen are as much a work of art as they are a cue case.

Which cue case would you buy?

Case # 3 has spring loaded tubes for butts and shafts and a seperate jump cue handle pocket. Very useful case. Very unpretentios but nice look.

Which cue case would you buy?

I own #3 and although it is not as nice looking as #2 it is extremely durable and functional. Lots of pocket room and the seperate areas for shafts and butts is very nice. The spring loaded tubes are great. I would definitely recommend this case. Case # 1 appears to be a fancier version of this...

    Tight pocket tables

Tight pockets arn't bad if the pocket shelf is not too deep and the rail angles are right. The wrong combination of these three variables can make a table unplayable. A friend of mine had a no name table with 4.75" pockets that would spit out any thing that touched the rail. There was no such...

The Hardest Shot In Pool For Me!

Jay called it right. I think the incredible shot you never make is hard to follow. I become so focused on trying to absorb that shot and decifer how I did it that I lose track of the shot I'm shooting,

    Pocket Chalker Addiction

In most chalkers you can put some quarters behind a cube of chalk to use it till it's almost gone.

    Pocket Chalker Addiction

I often forget to put mine away too. It leaves a nice mark on the seat of my truck when I go to drive home. I don't like to play without it though. Using it has become kind of a relaxing nervous habit. I use a glove too if my cue doesn't feel right, but mostly get by without it.

How do you practice 3 balls ahead for position?

First learn where the ball wants to go, then learn how to make it go where you want it to". I see so many players force the ball all over the place for no reason. I think this is part of Judes "cooking a chicken" statement too. When natural routes become blocked or closed off, you are forced to...

    Thorsten Hohmann blog

People gamble on everything. Plenty of money changes hands at the golf course. In most cases it is done more dicreetly than the DCC does it. Most people know that the DCC is about the gambling just like Vegas is about the gambling. It is adult entertainment not necessarily representative of the...

    Give-aways of pool wanna-bees

On the flip side of this topic, pool can use all the wanabees it can get. We are short of people willing to spend thier recreational time and money on pool. In many other sports newbies are encouraged and taught by better players. In pool too often they are ridiculed or fleeced. I think this...
