    Joined a Straight Pool league

This RedShoes league has brutal competition, handful of guys can give Bobby all he can handle. I get a lot of practice racking.

Anybody gave up the pendulum stroke for good?

I believe it's Nic Barrow, the Scott Lee of snooker.

Which is the best shaft cleaner?

Just an FYI, you can get quantities (50, 100) of generic magic erasers on EBay for about a dime each instead of a few bucks each for the name brand. Nice to have around the kitchen, too.

    Paying for Gold

I'm pretty sure PayPal will let you pay with a credit card as a guest without signing up with them. However, PayPal's safe and opening an account is convenient if you do a bit of on-line shopping. PayPal was spun off of EBay a few years back, they're now huge and reliable.

    Emails from Vendors

If I'm buying from an 'iffy' vendor or think I'll need some customer support I'll first just send them some innocent question just to see if or how long it takes them to reply.

FREE Android 14.1 Straight Pool Scorer app - new version.

Used to work and now doesn't? Program the same? Anything else change on your tablet? Hmmmm.. Send a note to QMD support, info@cue-md.com, and let them know. They'll try to help you out.

    Pool almost dead?

You're quite right. Speaking of golf, sponsored tour pros (probably all of them are) wear oversized patches on their shirts, hats, bags that millions of TV viewers see. Titleist, Ping, etc., are all over the place, and these big companies HAVE TO spend big to get their names on the top...

Hitting center of the cue ball

If you're interested in a high-tech route, check out the QMD and the QMDLite (www.cue-md.com). These devices are specifically designed to help you develop a straight, consistent stroke. Along with it's automatic stroke recording and graphic playback the QMD will show you where you're hitting...

    Video camera for recording matches

Interesting ideas. What I'm interested in (initially) is more for the casual recorder. What I typically see is someone sets up a camera on a ledge behind the table and a scoring app (tablet) next to it. The recording is great, but you don't know the score. If the scoring app could add the...

    Video camera for recording matches

The reason I'm asking is that I have an Android straight pool scoring app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mosens.straightpoolscorerv1.straightpoolscorer ) and was thinking about features to add to it. A great feature would be to let the scoring app control your video...

    Video camera for recording matches

I'm looking for a video camera that you can super impose the match score on the recording and update the score while the match is in progress. Would need to be bluetooth enabled so you can update the score from your smartphone. Does such a camera exist?

    English

Well, you can have some fun with this... I'm a righty. I generally first line up straight (compensating for deflection) and then adjust my backhand left or right for the english I want (is this 'backhand english'?). Applying left english (backhand away from my body) feels more natural and I...

    So How Was Practice?

If you want to see where you're actually hitting the cue ball, where your stroke goes off line and a lot more check out the QMD (www.cue-md.com). If you're serious about your fundamentals this is a serious training tool.

Running before you can walk, going "too" advanced in your goals???

Basically, it's your Aim, Spin and Speed (ASS) that makes the ball and gives you shape. So your ASS's on the line to deliver the cue ball that way. Are your fundamentals sound enough to do this? That's where practice and hitting a thousand balls (while paying attention) comes in. A good...

    Up'ing my Game - Advice

Like the saying goes, it might not be the arrow, but the archer. Ever consider a training tool like QMD (www.cue-md.com)? It'll give you some good insight into how you're stroking and help condition you for delivering a straight stroke.

    DISLIKES: (PPP) Professional Pool Players

I read somewhere that Ortman hurt his back and can't play comfortably with a regular stroke. Does pretty well upright/sideways.

    headphones during matches

I'm an average Joe that plays in a couple of straight pool leagues. Out of forty or so persons of varying skills and backgrounds I match up against maybe three wear headphones. They are the 'psycho' ones (you know who they are) that are always looking for an excuse and can't deal with the...

    Recording Practice

Want to mention that you may want to consider the QMD (www.cue-md.com) for recording your practice sessions as convenient alternative to video. In addition to automatically recording the shots QMD gives you a list of metrics about each shot in your session that will help you identify stroke...
